Between intermittent raindrops No. 9 Archbishop Spalding and Garrison Forest competed up and down the hockey field, but neither team could finish what it started and had to settle for an 0-0 overtime tie. It wasn't that neither team had chances. Each side did. But no one could find the finishing touch. "We knew it would be an even match," said Spalding goalie Melissa Rize, who was under pressure most of the first half and made seven saves, the last one a foot save in overtime on a long-range power shot by sophomore Geagy Pritchard with 18 seconds to play.

CLEMSON, S.C. -- In Georgia Tech's first overtime game of the season at Clemson, the Yellow Jackets learned a very valuable lesson: Avoid overtime at all costs.Even a Clemson basket in the final 30 seconds of regulation -- while the score was tied at 71 -- would have been better than what happened to Georgia Tech Wednesday night in overtime.Clemson (12-6, 2-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference) used the extra period to score 24 points -- one shy of the NCAA record for most overtime points -- to earn a 95-78 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

For a team that has struggled with possession this season, the Loyola women's lacrosse team certainly set the right tone early in Saturday's game against James Madison. Unfortunately for the Greyhounds, they could not sustain it beyond the first half. The No. 12 Greyhounds scored the first four goals and shut out James Madison before halftime, but the Dukes seized the momentum early in the second half and dominated possession in overtime for a 9-8 victory at Loyola's Ridley Athletic Complex.

No. 2 Bryn Mawr had to go to overtime Wednesday before the Mawrtians found a way to survive No. 8 Notre Dame Prep, 3-2, when junior Sophie Freeman scored the first goal of her high school career. "They're a top 10 team and we're a top 10 team," Bryn Mawr coach Jeanette Budzik said. "This is the way this game should be played. " Both teams had ample opportunities to win after NDP scored two second-half goals to tie midway through the second half. But the game wasn't decided until Bryn Mawr senior Molly Danko - the team's leading scorer, who was shut out Wednesday - raced down the sidelines with 1:57 to play.

Sarah Hogan has scored other goals for Towson, but it's doubtful any have been more important or timely than against visiting James Madison on Sunday. The junior scored with 26 seconds left in double overtime to give the No. 17 Tigers a 10-9 win and the regular-season Colonial Athletic Association championship. Both teams entered the game with unblemished conference records, and both knew it was winner take all for the title. "I saw that Kelly [Custer] was being doubled and had nowhere to go, and she did a great job of getting me the ball," said Hogan, who fired a bullet past James Madison's Schylar Healy for the game winner.
