The season finale kicks off with Gretchen and Slade arriving fashionably late to Vicki's Winter Wonderland Party. They act like everything is fine and dandy with the group until Slade gives a backhanded compliment to Lydia. Soon after her entrance, Gretchen confronts Ryan about him not allowing Brooks over Vicki's place. She questions why he has any right or say as to who Vicki can or can't have over her own house. Soon after, Lydia's pot-head mother arrives to the party. Sorry Judy, but there is no "green" at this white party.

A couple with ties to Maryland is believed to be responsible for the shooting death of a Florida police officer. Benjamin Holtermann, wanted in connection with crimes in Maryland, shot and killed Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine, 34, after a brief foot chase into the backyard of a home in Westminster Landing late Monday, according to the Orange County (Fla.) Sherrif's Office. Soon after, the 28-year-old ended his own life in the neighborhood north of Windermere, authorities said. Deputies swarmed the community and detained Erica Pugh, later identified as Holtermann's girlfriend.

Renee Foose, the deputy superintendent in Baltimore County, is one of three finalists for the superintendent's job in Orange County, Florida, a school district that is larger than Baltimore County's. The Orlando Sentinel reported last week that the Orange County school board will meet this Thursday to make a selection after interviewing Foose on March 15. Foose is the only external candidate. The other candidates include a John Edwards, an area superintendent and longtime administrator with the district, and Deputy Superintendent Barbara Jenkins.

Who's to blame for the largest bankruptcy in municipal government history? According to officials in Orange County, Calif., everyone is at fault but themselves. They've pointed an accusing finger at federal bank regulators, at the county's investment advisers and at the county's accountants. But now a state legislative panel has found a new culprit -- the elected officials of Orange County themselves.Though the county's elected board of supervisors has the legal obligation to oversee investments, to audit the books and to receive monthly reports, it never happened.
