Augusto Macedo,94, Lisbon, Portugal's, oldest taxi driver who ferried passengers around the capital in a 1928 Oldsmobile, died Friday -- the day a movie featuring him and his cab premiered. "Taxi Lisboa" is based on his recollections of his 68 years as a cabdriver and features scenes of old Lisbon, a weird variety of passengers traveling in the Oldsmobile and Mr. Macedo telling tales seated on one of the black-and-green cab's running boards. He was hospitalized a month ago after suffering a heart attack.

LINKWOOD -- It was one of the worst accidents on the Eastern Shore in recent memory -- four cars, two people dead and 16 criminal charges filed against a driver police say had a blood-alcohol level of .32, an open bottle of vodka in the back seat and a long history of trouble behind the wheel.Two months later, witness Patricia Mowbray still has nightmares about the Nov. 1 crash, the memory etched in her mind as starkly as the gouges still visible in the asphalt of Route 50.Just east of this Dorchester County village, the silver Oldsmobile cruising 200 yards in front of her car veers into a left-turn lane at a crossover.

A 5-year-old Pasadena girl and two others were hospitalized Tuesday after a 1982 Ford pickup truck slid across the center line of Duvall Highway and ran head-on into a 1991 Oldsmobile, county police said yesterday.Whitney Sarchiapone, 5, of the 900 block of Spry Harbor was in critical but stable condition yesterday at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, where she is being treated for facial injuries and broken bones.Susan Faye Pangle, 40, of the 800 block of 203rd St. in Pasadena, who was driving the car Whitney was in, was in serious but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was being treated for chest and head injuries and a dislocated hip.Angela Jane Hardin, 18, of the 900 block of 12th St. in Pasadena, who was in the truck, was in fair condition at Shock Trauma with facial injuries and cuts.

General Motors Corp. took action last week to satisfy dealers that have long clamored for a larger Saturn. The company said it would build a midsize model at its Chevrolet plant in Wilmington, Del.The new car, code-named Innovate, will be the first Saturn built outside its assembly line at Spring Hill, Tenn., which has cultivated an image of down-home workers who crafted a car as a team.It is scheduled to make its way into showrooms in 1999.General Motors said the car will be based on the Opel Vectra that GM makes and sells in Europe.

Man steals boy's bike after pushing off riderA 12-year-old boy was robbed of his bicycle Tuesday as he rode near the Brooklyn Park library, county police said.The boy told police he was riding on Brookwood Road when he was approached by a man in his 20s. The man pushed the boy off his bicycle, then put the bike in the trunk of an Oldsmobile and drove off, police said.Police searched unsuccessfully for the car. For 46 years, Donald Lee Reeves faithfully served the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company. Thursday night, fellow members tried in vain to help him after a head-on collision on U.S. 1 left Reeves and three others dead and his wife critically hurt in one of Harford County's worst traffic accidents.Among those killed was the wife of the president of St. John's College in Oxford, England.The collision occurred about 9: 10 p.m. when a southbound Dodge Colt driven by William James Tallett Jr., 23, of Fallston crossed the center line and slammed into the northbound car driven by Reeves, 64, of Darlington.

An armed man used the drive-through window of Annapolis Bank and Trust in Severna Park Tuesday to steal an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.A teller told police the man drove up to the service window soon after 7 p.m., passed the teller a holdup note and showed her a semiautomatic handgun.The teller gave the man money and he drove south on Ritchie Highway, police said.The man was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, with a thick well-trimmed mustache. He was wearing dark clothing, a blue baseball cap and was driving a tan older-model Oldsmobile Cutlass or a Cadillac.

Someone broke into a car owned by the Naval Investigative Service while it was in front of a house in Pasadena Monday night and stole a bulletproof vest and a raid jacket, county police said.Paul E. Leo, 40, of the 100 block of Oak Road, told police he went to the 1990 Oldsmobile Achieva shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday and found the right front window smashed and the vest and a blue nylon raid jacket missing.The items were valued at $400.Pub Date: 4/11/96

County police have charged two men Wednesday with auto break-ins at a Davidsonville park-and-ride lot, and said they also are suspects in Northern Virginia and Washington thefts.William Taylor, 35, of the 7900 block of 18th Ave. in Adelphi and Anthony Malone, 21, of the 2300 block of 11th St. in Washington were charged with felony theft, misdemeanor theft and being "rogues and vagabonds." Mr. Malone also was charged with possession of crack cocaine.Each was held at the county Detention Center in lieu of $2,500 bail.
