Anne Arundel County Police are looking for a man suspected in a robbery Friday at 1st Mariner Bank in Odenton. Police said the man entered the branch at 1600 Annapolis Road around 11:15 a.m. and announced a bank robbery. The man told the teller to put money in a bag that he brought with him. Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to contact Det. Clifford Van Hoesen at 410-222-3469 or 410-222-3566. Investigators did not disclose how much money was taken.

A 43-year-old Arbutus man remained in serious condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after his left leg was crushed at an Odenton container company Wednesday, police said.Larry E. Breeding was standing on a conveyor belt when he accidentally got stuck between two rollers at the Atlas Container Corp. in the 8100 block of Telegraph Road. The accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m.Police said Mr. Breeding fell through a gap in the belt caused by two missing rollers, and that a conveyor load pusher crushed his left leg.

A man who admitted that he tried to rape a high school student when she passed his Odenton backyard on her way to the school bus was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison. The victim softly wept as Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Paul A. Hackner ordered a prison term above state guidelines for Jameson Bryan Knott, 20, whom he described as having "significant, longstanding mental health problems. " "The sentence is appropriate," Assistant State's Attorney Sandra F. Howell said afterward.

State and federal officials will hold a hearing Wednesday on a request for a permit that will allow preliminary development at the site of the Odenton Town Center.Approval of the nontidal wetlands permit would allow the county to construct roads to serve the town center and would allow retail development by Reliable Contracting Company Profit Sharing Trust.The hearing by the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Army Corps of Engineers will be at 7 p.m. in the Arundel Senior High School auditorium, 1001 Annapolis Road, Gambrills.

A 30-year-old Odenton woman was arrested Tuesday night and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, county police said.Roxane Marie Vennik of the 1400 block of Hale St. and a male friend were sitting in a car in the parking lot of the Place Lounge in the 8300 block of Telegraph Road when an officer from the Western District spotted them around 8:15 p.m., police said.The officer had Ms. Vennik and her friend identify themselves so he could run a check on his computer for possible outstanding warrants.

Two youths were robbed of their bicycles Friday and a third told county police that two teen-agers tried to take money from him as he played in front of an Odenton home Friday.Police do not know if the robberies, all in the Odenton area between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., are related.At 6 p.m., an 11-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on WB&A Boulevard near Maple Tree Road when four teen-agers walked up to him and asked him if he knew a girl who went to school with him. When the boy said yes, one of the teen-agers took his bicycle and rode down Maple Tree Road.

Ms. Bryant tried to protect the collie by covering it with her body.

Bowl America Odenton played host to the Parents-Coaches Association's first Scholarship Tournament on May 9, and youth bowlers from 12 centers competed for $1,000 in scholarship prizes.The tournament had two divisions: Division I for grades 5-8 and Division II for grades 9-12. The format was six games across 12 lanes.Kristal Brady took the Division I first-place $250 scholarship prize, and David Williams captured the $250 Division II scholarship.Kristal's victory was a cliffhanger. The first six games resulted in a tie with Chris Lee from Bowl America Silver Hill.

Boxes of perfume stolen from Crofton storageAbout 20 boxes of perfume were stolen from a storage locker at Sur-Guard Storage in Crofton during the weekend.Investigators said the thieves broke a lock on the locker between Friday and Monday and took the boxes filled with colognes and lotions.The perfume belonged to Cosmair European Fragrances in Bowie, police said.
