Richard "Dick" Nelson Rollings A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 67 Central Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Dick's name to VFW Post 7234, P.O. Box 91, Ocean View, DE 19970 or to a charity of choice. Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services.

William Lloyd Adams is a Baltimore "icon," and his passing is definitely the end of an era ("Former numbers runner became venture capitalist," June 29). I was born and raised in Baltimore, and for my 75 years Mr. Adams has been a force in not only the black community, but in the Baltimore community. The Sun's own Antero Pietila, in his book "Not in My Neighborhood," illuminates this as he writes about another Baltimore original, former state treasurer and civic leader John A. Luetkemeyer.

T. EMERY HUDSON of Bethany Beach, DE and formerly of Baltimore, died on May 9, 2006. He was 91. He retired from Glenn L. Martin Aircraft. He was predeceased by his wife Madeline (Way) Hudson. He is survived by three sons Thomas E. Hudson, Jr., Martin Hudson, Brian Hudson and one daughter, Louise Mae Williams Services. Services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church, Ocean View, DE at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Ocean View.

KATHRYN "Kitty" ELAINE LOCKETT SEARS, (87), of Ocean View, DE, passed away on February 27, 2007, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 17, 1919, in Annapolis, MD. She was predeceased by her husbands, James C. Hughes and Robert C. Sears. She is survived by: daughter, Carol Hughes; daughter, Lu Ella Moore and husband, Mike; daughter, Patty Hammond and husband, Jerry; son, Bob Sears and wife, Marianna; son, Jim Hughes and wife, Susan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 1:00 P.M., at Melson's Funeral Chapel, West Avenue, Ocean View, DE.

JAMES WILSON MOFFITT, age 89, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Baltimore, MD., passed away Thursday, February 9, 2006 at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. He formerly worked in the security department of General Motors, retiring in 1974 after 39 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, James M. and Timothy D. Moffitt; daughter-in-law, Nancy Moffitt; three grandsons, James Michael, Matthew Scott, Jason Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Casie and Cody Moffitt.

ROSE M. THOMAS, age 86, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Baltimore, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. She was a computer programer for Lockheed-Martin Aircraft Company in Baltimore, retiring after over 30 years of service. She was a very active member and past president of the ladies auxiliary division of Mason-Dixon VFW Post #7234 of Quillens Point in Ocean View, DE, and was the founder of their Friday night dinners. She was also a member of the Lord Baltimore Ladies Club, Ocean View Chapter.

WILLIAM "BILL" D. THOMAS, age 88, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Baltimore, died Wednesday, March 31st, 2004 at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. He was retired from the accounting department of the Martin-Lockheed Aircraft Company in Baltimore. Bill is survived by his wife, Rose M. Thomas; and two sisters, Mary Thomas and Monica Brinson.
