The Odenton Elementary School PTA is having a flea market in the school parking lot from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sept. 24.Spaces are $10 each. Pascal center offers class for computer buyers Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie, is presenting a free seminar for first-time computer buyers from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Instructors Walter Urbas and Howard Smith will discuss different types of computers and their major components, what sort of computer to buy and how much one should expect to pay. Hearing to focus on needs of elderly The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities will hold a public hearing today to solicit input about services for older adults and unmet needs of seniors and their families. The hearing will be held at1 p.m. at the Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie. Public hearings are required every four years under the Older Americans Act. Wayne M. Taylor, department director, also is requesting written suggestions from seniors and other members of the public on how to improve and expand services.

Foreign language classes to be offered by center and AACC The South County Senior Center and Anne Arundel Community College are offering two 10-week language classes beginning next month. Classes in French are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mondays. Spanish classes are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The classes will teach students the basic vocabulary and grammar needed for such situations as making reservations, asking for directions and requesting medical help.

While flipping through a magazine last year, Lydia Husar found a photo of an 85-year-old distance runner that spoke volumes to her.The photo was of celebrated senior runner Ed Benham seated on a hill. The profile showed a resolute Mr. Benham, his jaw jutting, his pants rolled up just enough to showcase his worn sneakers."I liked his determination and his sneakers," said the 70-year-old Mrs. Husar, a member of the O'Malley Senior Center in Odenton. "I thought, 'A man this age in sneakers and running, this is great.

It is relatively quiet at the new O'Malley Senior Center Annex. Retired dispatcher Craig Sisk, 61, enjoys a game of pool alone in the spacious room that features two pool tables - one more than can be found at the senior center across the street. Longtime patron Marion Adams, 71, shows off a design she painted on a bright pink shirt in her decorative arts class held in the new crafts room. "I think this is a great opportunity," she said of the new space. "The facilities couldn't be better for learning and play."
