A Baltimore County man orchestrated a drug deal to rob a 22-year-old who was found shot to death in the back seat of his Chevrolet Impala in Parkville last week, police said. DeAngelo Devonne Johnson, 24, of the first block of Delight Ave. in Nottingham, was charged Wednesday with armed robbery and first-degree murder. Police said Johnson had arranged to buy a quarter-pound of marijuana from Miguiel Anthony Bailey when he and Linwood Tymais Smith allegedly robbed and shot Bailey on June 12. Smith was charged earlier with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the incident.

A local charity will benefit from the beer-making skills of Vincent and Suzanne Powers, winners of the second annual H.E.R.O Homebrew contest run by the DuClaw Brewing Company. The Nottingham residents won the contest with their Chocolate Chipotle Stout, beating 54 other home-brewed offerings. The beer will be made by DuClaw and sold in the chain's brewpubs and at retail locations. Proceeds will go to a charity that will be chosen at the end of June or the beginning of July. "We're open to suggestions," said Dave Benfield, CEO of the Maryland craft brewing company, founded in 1996.

Baltimore County Police have released a composite sketch of a man they believe burglarized homes in the eastern part of the county between Thursday and Saturday. Four of the six burglaries took place in Perry Hall, all in the 5100 block of E. Joppa Road. The two other incidents occurred in Nottingham, in the 9200 block of Ramblebrook Road and the 9400 block of Dana Vista Road. All the burglaries took place overnight, between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m., and the thief entered through a window.

Helen G. Rigler, a former elementary school educator and opera buff, died Saturday of heart failure at Mercy Medical Center. The Parkton resident was 93. The daughter of a Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. draftsman and a homemaker, Helen Gill was born in Baltimore and raised in Boring. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1936, she earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1940 from what is now Towson University. After completing her student teaching at Lida Lee Tall School on the Towson campus, she began teaching at Margaret Brent Elementary School and later at Stoneleigh Elementary School.
