At least three people have been killed on Maryland highways since Friday evening, including a Virginia man who was thrown from his car and struck by another driver on Interstate 95 in Prince George's County, police reported.The other fatal accidents happened in Howard and Carroll counties.About 2: 30 a.m. yesterday, two men were traveling south on I-95 near Route 5 when the driver lost control of the 1985 Nissan 300 2X, Maryland State Police said. The car flipped, tossing the driver and passenger onto the highway.

B ill Lehman watches the cars go by. A red pickup truck heads south on Second Street, disappears, then returns heading north on Second Street. "That red truck will be back," Lehman says. Sure enough, the same red truck passes Lehman seven times in 20 minutes on the same residential block in South Baltimore's Brooklyn neighborhood. Lehman calls out the plate number as Jessica Mazan jots it down in her log and Jessica's mother, Nancy Mazan, grabs her binoculars to confirm the sighting.

Dave Hill program director at 98 Rock, said Thursday afternoon that the station had “parted ways” with afternoon disc jockey Stephen G. Smith, known to listeners as Stash. Smith has not been on the air since an automobile accident in Harford County Sunday that sent five people to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and resulted in 48-year-old disc jockey being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving and other traffic offenses, according to police.

The arrest of three friends of the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing reminds us of the consequences of withholding information from investigators, lying or being an accessory after the fact for a friend or loved one. In other words, if the authorities are correct, "snitching" could have saved these three young men from facing criminal charges, international notoriety, and a future scarred by the cover up of their friend - a suspected terrorist....

Four people, including a 17-month-old Frederick boy, died in traffic accidents over the weekend, State Police said.Police said three of the deaths involved the use of alcohol.About 3:15 p.m. yesterday, Michael Wayne McClanahan, of El Toro, Calif., was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Md. 235 near Millstone Road in California, St. Mary's County, police said.Police said McClanahan, who had been drinking, was seen standing on the shoulder of the road when he suddenly stepped into the path of a northbound Chevrolet truck driven by James Holt, 47, of Park Hall.

Nissan Motor Co. said it plans to offer a driver-side airbag in most of its U.S. passenger car models by 1992.The company also said all Nissan and Infiniti passenger cars sold in the U.S. will be equipped with a driver-side airbag system by 1993.Several Nissan and Infiniti models are already available with a driver-side airbag as a supplementary restraint system.

LOS ANGELES -- Wayne Levi, playing with new determination after a disappointing campaign last year, shot a 7-under-par 64 yesterday to take the first-round lead in the Nissan Los Angeles Open.Levi rolled in a 3-foot birdie putt on the final hole to break out of a six-player logjam at the top.Doug Tewell, Keith Clearwater, Mark Carnevale, Buddy Gardner and Chris Tucker all were one shot off the pace with opening 65s.Tom Sieckmann was another shot behind with a 66, and Tom Weiskopf, playing more this year as he prepares to turn 50 and join the senior tour in November, was in a group at 67.One of the most watched players in the tournament, 16-year-old high school sophomore Eldrick "Tiger" Woods, shot a 72 and was back in the pack as he became the youngest golfer ever to play in a PGA Tour event.
