Night 2 of the Knockout Rounds brought more entertainment and heartbreak for the contestants. It was time for Team Blake and Team Usher to make it through the Knockout Rounds, and move on to next week's live playoffs. With Adam's angels and Shakira's all-star team already assembled, it was time for them to watch as coaches Blake and Usher's teams battled it out. Team Blake: Savannah Berry, “As Long as You Love Me” by Justin Bieber vs. Justin Rivers, “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus Country-pop was the sound for this competition as Savannah and Justin opened the competition with two major pop hits.

If you've ever heard a baby fox screaming for its mother on a dark spring night - foxes can sound eerily human - you'll know why a team of volunteer firefighters in Harford County was alerted to the howls of a desperate pup trapped in a storm drain in Edgewood late Tuesday. But thanks to the yipping plea for help, the furry redhead ended up getting a ride in a fire truck and spending the night with a bunch of firefighters at the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Station. The firefighters are "tasked with protecting lives, not just human," the station said in a news release.

Zach Britton had been wondering for four days whether he'd get into a big league game against the Oakland A's. He didn't. And that's not a bad thing. Because now the 25-year-old lefty gets the call to start Monday night at Safeco Field against the Seattle Mariners in what will be Britton's 2013 big league debut. "I am definitely excited. I just want to kind of continue what I was doing in Norfolk and not try to change anything," said Britton, who was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in three Triple-A games.

Five people were taken to the hospital after they were injured in a crash on Interstate 95 on Sunday night involving multiple cars, Baltimore County Fire Department officials said. The crash happened about 9 p.m. on southbound I-95 near the exit for I-195, officials said. One person was critically injured, two people were seriously injured and two people had minor injuries, the fire department said. The University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center was at capacity, fire officials said, so patients were taken elsewhere.

A man was seriously injured when he was stabbed in the chest in East Baltimore on Saturday night, police said. The man, about whom police have not released any other information, was stabbed in the 2000 block of Cliftwood Avenue in the South Clifton Park neighborhood shortly before 10 p.m., police said. Police said the man's condition was stable at a hospital Sunday afternoon but did not immediately have more specific information about his status. District detectives were investigating a motive for the attack and a suspect, police said.

Nationally, the TV audience for the first night of the NFL draft was down a bit from last year, but Baltimore tuned in in a big way. ESPN's round one coverage earned a 4.6 overnight rating Thursday, according to preliminary Nielsen figures supplied by the channel. That's the third highest-rated overnight since round one began airing on Thursday in 2010. That year's telecast earned a 5.4 rating, while last year's Thursday night coverage scored a 4.8. Locally, Baltimore finished fourth among metered markets behind Buffalo, New Orleans and Kansas City.

Multiple residents in Anne Arundel County were displaced Thursday evening after fires blazed through their homes in separate incidents. Fire officials first responded to the 6400 block of Lamplighter Ridge in Glen Burnie around 9:45 p.m. where a two-story townhome was ablaze. The 43 firefighters at the scene had situation under control within an hour, but not before three homes could endure $215,000 in damages, according to fire officials. Six people who were displaced in the event are now being assisted by the American Red Cross while a firefighter and 60-year-old male were treated for minor injuries at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, officials said.

The Tewaaraton Foundation, which is tasked with designating the Tewaaraton Award to the top male and female collegiate player, released its list of 25 nominees Friday night, and Loyola and Maryland each have two candidates on that list. The reigning national champion Greyhounds are represented by 2012 Tewaaraton finalist and senior attackman Mike Sawyer and senior long-stick midfielder Scott Ratliff. The Terps, who have been to the last two NCAA title games, boast senior long-stick midfielder Jesse Bernhardt and redshirt goalkeeper Niko Amato.

A Baltimore City police cruiser crashed into another vehicle Friday evening at 235 E. 25th St., injuring both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle, police said. The officer was responding to a call at 6:13 p.m. when the police car collided with the other vehicle. Both drivers were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. Police did not identify the officer or the other driver.
