Midshipman 1st Class Anthony Lenzi graduated from the Maine MaritimeAcademy with a bachelor's of science degree in marine systems engineering.He also was awarded the U.S. Coast Guard License as an engineer and was commissioned an officer in the Merchant Marine.He has accepted a position as engineer with the Mersck Lines of Denmark.While at Maine Maritime, Lenzi played varsity soccer, lacrosse, and sailed with the academy sailing team.Lenzi is a 1987 graduate of Bel Air High School.HUBER SAILS FOR HOMENavy Seaman Apprentice James J. Huber, son of James M. and Gail Huber of Abingdon, has returned from deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm while serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F.Kennedy, home-ported in Norfolk, Va.He is a 1990 graduate of BelAir High School.

Marine Sgt. William J. Craig, son of William and Irene Craig of Sykesville, recently returned from a seven-month deployment to the Mediterranean and west coast of Africa while serving with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Lejeune and New River, N.C.The Marines and sailors of the 26th MEU participated in exercises in Spain, Turkey, Gibraltar and also participated in Operation Sharp Edge in Liberia.Operation Shart Edge involved supporting the American Embassy in Liberia and evacuating U.S. citizens and nationalities several times a week.

* Marine Pfc. Michael A. VanVleck, son of Richard VanVleck of Taneytown, recently reported for duty with Headquarter Battalion, Headquarters, Marine Corps, Arlington, Va.A 1989 graduate of Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School, Bradley, Ill., he joined the Marine Corps in May 1990.* Several countians have completed recruit training at their respective Recruit Training Command centers.During the eight-week training cycle, the naval recruits studied general military subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training inone of the Navy's 85 basic fields.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Howard N. Oals, whose wife, Janice, is the daughter of Robert Holcomb of Bel Air, graduated from Basic ElectronicsTechnician School.During the course conducted at Service School Command, Naval Training Center, Orlando, Fla., Oals received introductory instructions on electronic circuit concepts, radar principles, and the basics of radio transmitters and receivers. He also studied the procedures for repairing amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, and power supply lines.

* Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Christopher C. Rothlingshofer, son of Charles B. and Sharon A. Rothlingshofer of Westminster, recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training after attending the eight-week training at the Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, N.J.He joined the Coast Guard in November 1990.* Marine Pvt. Douglas M. Waters has completed recruit training atMarine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.During the 13-week training cycle, he was taught the basics of battlefield survival and the daily routine of enlisted personnel, and studied the Marines' professional standards.

Navy Lt. Steven A. Bongardt, son of Robert G. and Antoinette L. Bongardt of Forest Hill, has returned from deployment while serving with Fighter Squadron 114, Naval Air Station Miramar, San Diego, embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.The squadron recently completed their first deployment aboard the nation's newest aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln. This was the carrier's maiden voyage around South America.A 1981 graduate of John Carroll School in Bel Air, and a 1985 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis with a degree in aerospace engineering, he joined the Navy in May 1985.

John R.Debus of Aberdeen, at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.During his eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.He is a 1990 graduate of Aberdeen High School and joined the Navy in August 1990.* Coast Guard Fireman Apprentice Patrick C. Driver, son of Jerome M. and Elizabeth A. Driver, of Bel Air, at Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, N.J.Among the subjects he studied were first aid, Coast Guard history and seamanship, communications, damage control, firefighting and physical conditioning.

COX COMPLETES AIR FORCE TRAININGAirman Barry L. Cox, son of Rosina E. Galbreath of Columbia, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.In the six weeks of training, he studied Air Force history, organization, customs and received special instruction in human relations.Cox is a 1981 graduate of Walbrook Senior High School, Baltimore.NAVY'S SIMMS ENDS ENGINEERING COURSENavy Ensign James L. Simms, son of William and Donna Simms of Sykesville, has graduated from Basic Civil Engineer Corps Officer Course.

Matthew D. Quintal, son of Fay Ogrysko of Pylesville, completed the Electro Optical Ordnance Repair course.
