Fires Westminster: Firefighters from Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester assisted Westminster at 2: 04 p.m. Monday for a natural gas leak in the 100 block of W. Main St. Units were out 40 minutes. Westminster: Firefighters responded at 9: 29 p.m. Monday for an odor of smoke at Route 97 and Airport Drive. Units were out 45 minutes.

FIRE* Hampstead: Hampstead, Manchester and Arcadia responded for a natural gas leak at the Smokehouse Restaurant on Hanover Pike at 3:17 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 40 minutes.Hampstead and Manchester responded to a house fire on Ralph Avenue at 3:29 p.m. Saturday. Units were on the scene for 24 minutes. Manchester also filled in at the Hampstead station during the fire.

A Reisterstown man who served one year of a three-year sentence for a 1995 theft conviction had the remaining two years reinstated yesterday after he was found guilty of violating his probation.Steven M. Meyer, 36, of Cockeys Mill Road pleaded guilty July 14, 1995, to entering a Sykesville home through an unlocked garage door and stealing property, court records show.Meyer has not paid restitution of $395 and failed to report to his probation agent as directed, prompting Circuit Judge Raymond E. Beck Sr. to reimpose the balance of the original sentence.

A Union Mills man was sentenced to 90 days in the Carroll County Detention Center yesterday after being convicted of stealing more than $80,000 from a Pennsylvania couple for whom he was supposed to build a house.Dean Spicer Gray, 28, pleaded guilty yesterday but allowed prosecutors to read a statement of facts that could convict him.In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop several other charges of theft and doing home improvements without a license. Prosecutors also placed on the inactive docket similar theft charges in connection with a Marriottsville victim.
