Elizabeth Koehling, daughter of Rena and Steve Koehling, of Columbia, was named to the dean's list for the 2011 fall semester at Lynchburg College, in Lynchburg, Va. As a Freshman, Koehling was also recently accepted for admittance into the selective athletic training major program at Lynchburg and on April 13, was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for college freshmen.

St. Vincent Pallotti High School held its annual National Honor Society recognition and induction ceremony April 26. The following students have been named Peer Advisors for the 2011-2012 academic year at Western New England University, in Springfield, Mass.: Matthew Sherry , of Ellicott City, a sophomore majoring in biomedical engineering; and Ryan Mastalerz , of Elkridge, a sophomore majoring in computer sciences. Peer Advisors are a team of students who seek to assist in the university transition. Each first year student is assigned to a peer mentor who serves as a source of information, point of first contact and conduit to university programs and support services.

Rachel Filderman and William Plowe , both of Columbia, have been inducted in the McDonogh School's chapter of the Cum Laude Society, a national honor society recognizing academic achievement. Ryan Konstanzer , of Reservoir High School, and Erin Geoghan , of River Hill High School, are the 2011 recipients of the Aronson/Willis Memorial Award. Each student was awarded a $2,000 scholarship and received a certificate from the Howard County General Hospital Professional Staff.

One of the top girls lacrosse players in Anne Arundel County, Chesapeake-AA's Erin Tenneson followed her big brother Chris into sports, and her midfield play has been critical to keeping the Cougars (2-2) firmly in the middle of the pack in one of the state's toughest leagues. This season, the senior has 18 goals and three assists as well as 14 draw controls and 19 ground balls. Tenneson, 18, also plays field hockey and basketball for the Cougars. A member of the National Honor Society, she earned a 4.75 GPA last semester.

Emily Weiman Archbishop Spalding, junior, pitcher Weiman finished the season at 17-3, leading the Cavaliers to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship. Weiman had 305 strikeouts in 136 innings pitched — an average of 15 strikeouts per game — and an 0.15 ERA. She also threw four no-hitters, including two perfect games. A North Carolina State commitment, she was a captain and is a member of the National Honor Society.
