Nate Ruess, the lead singer of the New York power-pop trio Fun., isn't shy about his band's ambitions. "I hope we can sell out Madison Square Garden," Ruess, 30, said. Fun., which plays the Sweetlife Food & Music Festival on Saturday, is off to strong start with "We Are Young," the now-ubiquitous No. 1 hit from the group's second album, "Some Nights. " The song is inescapable, from Top 40 stations to car commercials, WWE promos and, of course, "Glee. " After years of nostalgically drawing from older musical eras for his previous band, the Format, Ruess found inspiration for his smash hit in an unlikely place: rap. "I was so rooted in listening to retro albums and yearning for the past, a time I wasn't even born, that 'Some Nights' was about embracing the future a bit more," he said.

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has been subpoenaed as a defense witness in the trial of former Bengals linebacker Nate Webster, according to the Associated Press. Webster faces seven counts related to sexual conduct with the teen-aged daughter of an assistant coach in Cincinnati. He allegedly threatened the girl using guns to keep her from telling anyone; he'd apparently met her by asking her to babysit his children. The case is expected to last into next week. Webster, like Lewis, attended Miami.

Coming out of high school, Nate Clarke was a four-star offensive lineman who preferred to play defense . After a redshirt season at Maryland last fall, Clarke will now get that chance. In a video posted on YouTube this morning, Maryland coach Randy Edsall said Clarke has been moved to nose guard. “When you took a look at Nate, you saw a guy who was struggling a little bit on offense,” Edsall said. “And then when you take a look at what we have on defense and what we're trying to do defensively, you see a guy that you say, 'OK, he's probably going to be better with less to think about and less to do.' "And plus, with his size, being a 300-pounder who can move, we felt that, 'Hey, we need to put him on defense and put him in there at that nose guard and let him go and attack that center … make sure that he's got to be doubled in there so now you end up freeing up a linebacker.” As a senior at Archbishop Carroll in D.C., Clarke recorded about 77 tackles and nine sacks from the defensive tackle position.

Anyone who is thoroughly confused by tonight's events, please raise your hand. The episode began with Nate asking Diana to go public about being a couple. Tell me if I'm wrong, but since when does winking across the room and hooking up on desks constitute as a real relationship? I always think Nate can't possibly get any dumber, but he always proves me wrong. Every time. Side note, guess where he wanted to make the big announcement? A party … of course.  Elsewhere, Dan continued to whine and complain.

I know, I know. Which character has a baby on the way? Well, we found out during tonight's outrageous season premiere. But first, a quick reminder of what everyone has been up to this summer: Vanessa (who thankfully will not be back) stole Dan's latest story on her way out of the city. Dan is in the Hamptons, trying to stay out of drama for a while. Serena has a job in L.A. working on the set of a movie. Nate and Chuck are off traveling the world. And Blair has finally let Chuck go and is marrying Prince Louis.

Before "The Nate Berkus Show" arranged for a dramatic makeover, M'Salla and Felicia Wilks and their two daughters were prisoners of their own backyard. "The grape arbor was the most terrible thing," says Felicia Wilks, who lives with her family in Northwest Baltimore. "We didn't really get when we were supposed to prune or how much, and after a couple of years, grapevines took over the whole back," she says. "We also have a trumpetvine with these beautiful, bell-like flowers, and it took over the whole front.

After giving his team a six-goal lead against Gilman late in the third quarter, St. Mary's midfielder Spencer Coyle ran off the field and declared, "That's all day — they're not sliding. Sad news out of Long Beach, Calif. this morning: Nate Dogg (born Nathaniel Hale) died Tuesday at 41. The cause of death is unknown, but Nate has had recent health problems (a stroke in 2007, another in 2008). If you're like me, you're not a Nate Dogg historian, but you're well aware that California's G-Funk era would be much weaker, with less soul and personality, without the ice cold croon of Nate Dogg. Along with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound and more, Nate was an integral voice in crafting a defining time in rap and pop music.
