Tony Mack of Owings Mills notched his 100th career wrestling victory in an emphatic fashion this month. The 160-pound senior pinned his Franklin opponent in 1 minute, 12 seconds. "Tony's wrestled for me since he was 4 years old, when I had him in the rec program," Eagles coach Guy Pritzker said. "He's probably the toughest kid you'll ever see and also the nicest kid. He's been like a grizzly bear for us this year. "I'd say he's a role model for everybody. I've never heard Tony complain in 13 years of coaching him, and I'm serious about that.

With two strikes on her and facing one of the area's top pitchers, Severna Park's Amanda Melgaard said she was just trying to make contact in the sixth inning of yesterday's game at No. 1 Glen Burnie. A single would suffice. A double would be a bonus.A triple? The thought never entered her mind. But that's precisely what Melgaard delivered, lifting a fly ball over the head of retreating left fielder Stacey Ellenberger that broke a scoreless tie. Pinch runner Laura Snider came home on a sacrifice fly by Alli Adams, and junior pitcher Christy Huber gave No. 2 Severna Park another spectacular performance in a 2-1 victory.
