On July 31, 2006, NAN B. DULAJ; beloved wife of the late John Dulaj; devoted mother of John E. Dulaj and Edward L. Edwards. Also survived by five sisters, two brothers, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service (Panikhida) will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc, 7922 Wise Avenue on Wednesday 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held in St. Andrews Orthodox Church on Thursday 9:30 A.M. Interment St. Andrews Orthodox Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9 P.M.

The cherry and nutmeg-striped headscarf hasn't been worn in 85 years, but it is as easy for Nan Agle to envision as if it still were tied to her "Mammy's" head. The kerchief is bold and lively and radiates spirit. Eliza's spirit. Eliza Ann Benson, a former slave, helped raise Nan and her two older sisters at the turn of the 20th century. Before that, she defied the era (1880s Baltimore) and the odds to become the court-appointed guardian of her former white owners' four orphaned children, including Agle's mother.

We shouldn't be," says Ms. Simpson. "I don't want people to feel as if they have to dress to the nines to come in here.
