Some people paint, some sew, and Dolly Levi meddles. Mount Hebron High School's production of the musical farce, Hello, Dolly! intertwined hilarious story lines with riotous physical comedy, outrageous characters and strong commitment from cast members. In Yonkers, N.Y., everyone knows to call Dolly for anything, from furniture to daffodils to lives. When Dolly decides to remarry after years of being a widow, she sets her sights on the insufferably stubborn (and equally rich) Mr. Horace Vandergelder.

With its 18-point, third-quarter lead cut to two with five minutes left last night at Oakland Mills, No. 11 Mount Hebron got back to what provided the early advantage: scrappy, in-your-face defense and timely offense. Sophomore forward Megan Schaaf and junior guard Brittany Bowen supplied the late offense, and senior guard Qiana Coleman led the defensive charge that gave the Vikings a 45-37 win in Howard County play. Saturday, Mount Hebron senior Nathan Kealey missed his first field-goal attempt. One of his extra-point attempts was blocked. And his onside kick attempt was unsuccessful. But he made up for those mistakes in a big way -- with a 55-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' 16-0 win over Perryville.Earlier in the game, Kealey missed a 26-yard field-goal attempt with the wind blowing in. In the fourth quarter, the wind was at his back. Still, no one was more surprised by the long field goal than Kealey.

Mount Hebron senior striker Justin Martinelli didn't know the number of games, only that it had been much too long since his team had been on the winning side against Howard County rival River Hill. That changed in yesterday's rain and cold when the No. 4 Vikings showed an overwhelming desire to move forward in the Class 3A East region, knocking off the defending co-state champion and No. 8 Hawks, 5-3, in opening-round play. Martinelli finished with two goals - including the game-winner in the 53rd minute - and fellow senior standout Mike Napolitano contributed one goal and three assists.
