The man who was killed Sunday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle on the Jones Falls Expressway and crashed into a jersey barrier has been identified as a resident of North Baltimore, city police said. Cornell Smith, 39, of the 4900 block of Greenspring Ave. was riding a 2003 Honda motorcycle north on the JFX when he spun out of control on a curve between the Guilford Avenue and Calvert Street overpasses, police said. Mr. Smith, who was wearing a helmet, was dead at the scene, police said.

A Glen Burnie man was killed yesterday when he lost control of his motorcycle, hit a guardrail and skidded along Reece Road, county police said.Richard Lee Willis, 39, of the 1000 block of Kelso Drive was pronounced dead on the scene.Police said Willis was northbound just north of Severn Road on a 1981 Yamaha 650 about 12: 30 a.m. when he lost control on a curve.The motorcycle hit a guardrail and slid on its side about 100 feet before coming to rest in the northbound lane of Reece Road. Willis was pinned between the motorcycle and the rail.

A 20-year-old Edgewood man died after his motorcycle struck a car in Joppa Friday night, police said. Karl Michael Kunz, 20, of Edgewood, was pronounced dead at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle struck a 2010 Toyota Corolla on Joppa Farm Road near Foster Knoll Drive in Joppa, Harford County police said. Witnesses told police that Kunz had been speeding and passing cars in a no-passing zone as he headed north on Joppa Farm Road, shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, according to a news release.

A Churchton man was killed yesterday when the motorcycle he was riding slammed into a tree at Rockhold Creek Road near Route 258, Anne Arundel County police said. Daryl George Bailey, 24, was driving his motorcycle recklessly, witnesses told police, when he lost control. Bailey went off the right side of the road and slid 200 feet across a grassy field into a tree, according to a police report. Bailey, of 1144 Delaware Ave., was pronounced dead at 2 p.m. at Anne Arundel Medical Center, police said.

A member of the Glenelg Country School track team was struck by a motorcycle Tuesday while jogging along Folly Quarter Road, Howard County fire and rescue officials said yesterday.The officials did not have details of the incident or the victim's name. A Woodbine man remained in critical but stable condition in the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore yesterday after a motorcycle accident sent him sliding along Route 97 in Glenelg Sunday, Howard County police said.According to traffic investigators, John Vincent, 50, of Mullinix Mill Road was riding his motorcycle north on Route 97 about 1 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of the vehicle and fell off. He and his bike slid down the roadway and off the northbound shoulder of the road, police said.

A 25-year-old Pasadena woman was killed Sunday in a motorcycle crash on Ritchie Highway near College Parkway, county police said yesterday.The victim was identified as Virginia Arlene Miller of the 7800 block of Catherine Ave. She was the passenger on a motorcycle driven by Norma Jean Brashear, 42, also of the 7800 block of Catherine Avenue.Police said the motorcycle was heading south on Ritchie Highway shortly after 3 p.m. when the driver tried to change lanes just north of College Parkway but swerved to avoid a car that was trying to get into the same lane.

A motorcycle convoy is expected to travel through Harford and Cecil counties on northbound I-95 Saturday morning as part of a 9/11 commemoration and victim's memorial ride that began in western Pennsylvania Friday. The bikers, who are part of America's 9/11 Ride, hosted by America's 911 Foundation, Inc., are expected to make a refueling stop at the Maryland House near Aberdeen sometime around 9 a.m. Saturday, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority, which operates the interstate highway in Maryland.

A 14-year-old girl riding on the back of a motorcycle was killed Thursday when her father lost control on a curve in Harford County and crashed into a van, a Maryland State Police spokesman said. Lauryn Marie Little and her father, Brian Ross Little, 42, were thrown from his Harley-Davidson after it rammed into the rear of a van at an intersection in Darlington shortly before 5 p.m., according to the police report of the accident. The girl was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where she was pronounced dead.
