On June 6, 2008, MINERVA C. DILUTIS (nee Gunther) beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Dilutis, devoted mother of Thomas H. Dilutis and his wife Cathy, John N. Dilutis and Anthony Dilutis, dear sister of Jean Hines, Hazel Beyer and her husband Albert, Robert Gunther and his wife Kathy and Ronald Gunther and his wife Sherri. Minerva L. Zimmerman, a homemaker and former Baltimore resident, died of an infection Wednesday at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. She was 87. The former Minerva Knode was born and raised in Boonsboro. She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and during World War II worked as a seamstress at Frederick Tailoring Co. and at Koppers Co. Mrs. Zimmerman, who had formerly lived in South Baltimore and Brooklyn, moved to Hagerstown in 1990. She enjoyed crocheting and watching NASCAR races.

Minerva Richardson Carter, a retired hospital employee who spent her weekends at some of Baltimore's select social clubs, died of respiratory failure Tuesday at Augsburg Lutheran Home. She was 91. Mrs. Carter, a lifelong resident of Northwest Baltimore until she moved just outside the city to Augsburg about five years ago, graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1928. Born Minerva Richardson, she married John Welling in 1930. He died in the 1950s, said Jenneane Bradford of Randallstown, one of Mrs. Carter's daughters.

Charlotte Minerva Fischer, a retired surgical nurse who worked in a Johns Hopkins medical unit in the South Pacific during World War II, died of complications from pneumonia June 7 at Asbury Village in Gaithersburg, where she lived for the past 25 years. She was 99 and formerly resided in North Baltimore. Born in Washington, Miss Fischer was a 1928 graduate of the old Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing. In a memoir, she recalled getting her first job at Hopkins and working for two prominent surgeons there, Dr. Walter E. Dandy and Dr. Hugh H. Young.
