Pipe work: Buckhorn Road from Route 97 to Woodbine Road; Gillis Road from Woodbine Road to Route 27; Hoods Mill Road from Route 97 to Woodbine Road; Old Kays Mill Road from Kays Mill Road to Hughes Road. Road widening: Gorsuch Road from Route 140 to Center Street. Bridge painting: Linton Road bridge.

Pipe work: Gillis Road from Woodbine Road to Route 27; Hoods Mill Road from Route 97 to Woodbine Road. Waterline installation: Raincliffe Road from Route 32 to Slacks Road. Bridge replacement: Houcksville Road Bridge, from Route 30 to Carroll Street. Inlet work along shoulders: Bollinger Mill Road from Route 32 to the end. Road construction: Ladiesburg Road, closed at Route 75. Road improvements: East Main Street from 140 Village Road to Route 97. Paving, shoulder backup: Keysville South.

Some Kays Mill Road residents say they oppose a plan to realign part of their road and close another portion because the ++ changes would increase traffic speed and volume.Three residents attended a public hearing at the County Office Building yesterday afternoon and presented the commissioners with a petition opposing the closure. The petition was signed by 50 people.The commissioners sponsored the hearing to receive public comments on a plan to close 1,300 feet of Kays Mill Road, off Route 140 near Finksburg.

FIRE* Eldersburg: Winfield responded to a truck fire on Klee Mill Road at 1:25 a.m. yesterday. Units were out for 20 minutes.Sykesville and Winfield investigated two reports of fire alarms sounding in buildings on Bartholow Road on Friday. The first alarm sounded at 9:30 p.m. and the second at 9:38 p.m. Units were out for a total of 20 minutes on both calls.Gamber: Gamber, Sykesville and Winfield were dispatched for a chimney fire in a house on Klee Mill Road at 10:05 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for one hour.

POLICE* New Windsor: A Cockeysville resident reported to state police someone shattered the glass in the door of a backhoe parked at a construction site in the 1000 block of Green Valley Road Tuesday. The owner said a rock was thrown through the glass. Damage is estimated at $400.FIRE* Union Bridge: Union Bridge responded to a transformer fire in the 900 block of Crouse Mill Road at 10:04 a.m. Friday. Units were out for 26 minutes.* Taneytown: Taneytown responded to a field fire on Otterdale Mill Road at 7:59 p.m. Thursday.

POLICE LOG* Woodbine: 800 block of Hoods Mill Road: An intruder kicked in the front door of a house and stole an undisclosed amount of cash between 5:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday.900 block of Hoods Mill Road: Someone kicked in the front door of a house and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and a handgun between 7:25 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Tuesday.* Marriottsville: 5800 block of Forest Hill Road Someone entered a shed between Friday and Tuesday. The owner was uncertain if anything was stolen.

Two people injured in three-car accident Two people were injured - one seriously - in a three-car pileup that closed both lanes of Route 27 at Lucabaugh Mill Road for about an hour yesterday, according to state police. Waltraut I. McKinsey, 72, the driver of one of the three cars, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, said Tfc. Emily Krickler. Another driver, David Grant Baker, 49, was taken to Carroll County General Hospital. The driver of the third car was not injured.
