North County softball coach Brian Love, the Metro Coach of the Year last spring after leading the Knights (19-4) to their first Class 4A state crown, has stepped down after accepting an administrative position at Chesapeake-AA. Love, 34, started his new position as assistant principal at Chesapeake yesterday, reluctantly leaving behind his teaching position and coaching duties at North County, where he also was an assistant for the girls soccer team. "The thought of not coaching softball was difficult, but also having to leave all the great people I worked with at North County is tough," said Love.
