Most people expect the Ravens to target a guard or center in the first round of April's Draft, but that could change if Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams is still on the board. Considered by most draft pundits as the fourth best tackle in the draft, Adams (6-7, 323 pounds) is probably a long shot to fall to the Ravens at pick No. 29. However, questions about his maturity and several off-the-field issues could hurt his draft status. Adams, who was involved with the tattoo scandal at Ohio State, was suspended for the first five games of 2011 for receiving improper benefits.

Theft, vandalism ruin Metro experienceWe've all seen the ads on the television, radio and in the newspapers. Take the Metro to Camden Yards, beat the hassle of parking, save money and help the environment. . . .[But] as an Owings Mills subway customer for more than eight years, I have seen an excellent system go downhill when it comes to security on the parking lot. I and others have fallen victim to car thefts, vandalism and robberies within the Owings Mills station parking lots. Car alarms and "The Club" do not deter people if they want your car or what you have in it. These thefts are happening in broad daylight.

Rangers, Braves fortified Stephen Miller Morning Call Two of the biggest trade deadline acquisitions — Hunter Pence going to the Phillies and Carlos Beltran joining the Giants — came from teams already well-positioned to reach the playoffs. The Rangers and Braves are teams that were in more precarious spots but should play into October after their recent moves. Texas added two of baseball's top setup men in Mike Adams and Koji Uehara, fortifying a bullpen that ranked 11th in the American League in ERA. Those additions should help the Rangers hold off the Angels in the AL West.

For folks who like to fish, the cold-weather months are a time to buy new gear, patch up old stuff and plan trips. Fishing shows take care of the first item. A few rainy weekends provide the opportunity to wrestle with the second one. And Charles Meek's new book, Fishing Limestone Streams ($24.95; The Lyons Press), can help trout junkies on the third one. Meek, a 40-year veteran of Pennsylvania's cold, clear creeks, takes readers on a geological, geographical, environmental and piscatorial tour of the Mid-Atlantic's best.

The Thursday injury report is out, and the Ravens confirmed that inside linebacker Ray Lewis and cornerback Chris Carr missed practice. Lewis, a 12-time Pro Bowler, has now missed two consecutive practices. He is dealing with a toe injury on his right foot that has forced him to miss the team's past two games. If Lewis does not practice Friday, his chances of returning for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns would appear slim. Carr, who was limited Wednesday by a recurring back ailment, did not play in the win against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night.
