This past weekend in Fairhaven, Mass., I had a chance to catch Mick Foley doing standup comedy. I have seen him before, at "The Improv" after Summerslam 2012 in Toronto, and at other places. This is the sixth time I have seen his act. Each time after the first have been a blend of jokes that work every time, plus some new material. Foley is very topical with his humor, as it pertains to events in his career. This past weekend's shows included jokes and stories from his WWE Hall of Fame induction and doing a promo with Ryback in the ring.

Last weekend I attended the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame ceremony in Amsterdam, N.Y. It was great hearing such heartfelt speeches from legends of the industry and seeing so many familiar faces in the audience. One such face, Mick Foley, was in the audience enjoying the ceremony like everyone else and didn't even make a speech at the event. He drove four hours from his native Long Island to attend the induction of his trainer, the legendary Domenic DeNucci, then left less than an hour later.

CM Punk's path has taken an unexpected turn. Many wondered where the champion would go after retaining his WWE Championship against Ryback at Sunday night's Hell in a Cell. The million-dollar question was answered in the opening segment of Raw, but it was an answer as unexpected as the conclusion of Sunday night's pay-per-view. Punk denied having any knowledge of referee Brad Maddox's plans for the evening, suggesting he did it to make it up to Punk for screwing him in a tag team match against John Cena several months ago. (Yay continuity!

In an interview on a recent episode of "WWF Smackdown," World Wrestling Federation superstar Mankind spoke with typical bluster and braggadocio about how he had just decimated his competition. But it wasn't a typical WWF foe such as the Rock or the Undertaker that he was running down. Instead, Mankind was talking about the literary leg-lock he'd recently applied to such authors as former President George Bush, former Sen. John Glenn, the Dalai Lama and Frank McCourt.Last Sunday, Mankind, also known as Mick Foley, wrestled his way past McCourt's "Tis" to the top of the New York Times best-seller list with his autobiography, "Have A Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks"(Regan Books, $26)

Fans inside Madison Square Garden witnessed something many thought would never come. There he was, the last to be inducted. With years of bitter feelings brushed aside, the crown jewel of the WWE Hall of Fame was introduced by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Living legend, the man who held the WWWF title for over 4,000 days, Bruno Sammartino. He delivered his speech in his trademark even-keel and steady speech, passionate about his words and the stories he told. The speech felt very much like an abridged documentary about his life -- or perhaps an upcoming WWE DVD documentary.

Debuting on August 25, 2012, WWE Saturday Morning Slam has been a staple on the Vortexx on the CW. For many longtime WWE fans, watching the product on Saturday mornings was a tradition, the most coveted time of the week to catch your favorite stars.
