Michael Phelps' surprising decision to swim the punishing 400 individual medley at the Indianapolis Grand Prix on Friday was a topic of discussion today as elite swimmers began arriving for one of the last meets before the London Olympics four months from now. Phelps, who flew from his Baltimore home Wednesday morning, practiced with a few teammates from the North Baltimore Aquatics Club and then headed to an event at a local Boys and Girls Club...

When you become the most decorated Olympian of all time what do you do --  head to Disneyland? Not Michael Phelps. He's going to Atlantic City. Phelps will be headlining a pool party at Harrah's Resort on Sept. 22. And from the looks of photos of past "Pool After Dark" parties on the resort's website , these things can get pretty wild. You think you can handle hanging with the king of chlorine? Well, all you have to do is head over to the New Jersey boardwalk and pony up $20 -- that's what admission costs.

One would expect Michael Phelps' coach Bob Bowman to know how to trim seconds from a race and how to perfect the butterfly stroke. But that's not all the famed swim coach is good for. He's got culinary advice too. Fellow swim coach Fernando Buenrostro asked Bowman today on Twitter: "What am I doing wrong if the chocolate cake I'm baking isn't fluffy? It looks like brownies. " Bowman immediately wrote back. "You may be over beating the batter," the next Food Network star answered.

Deep thought from Michael Phelps: Is random drug testing really random? The Olympian seems to have his doubts. "Feel like my #randomness for drug testing is like the randomness at the security lines at airports...6 times in three weeks?? Really?" he Tweeted this afternoon. "And not saying its bad that they test... But a little excessive IMO... Just wonder if the other athletes out there are getting the "randomness" that I get... " Perhaps he's alluding to personal history.

As if Michael Phelps needed another feather in his already over-stuffed cap, Men's Health has just named him the fittest man of all time. There are folks on the list like the incredibly hunky Daniel Craig, the inspiring Oscar Pistorius, even Charles Atlas, who pretty much made physique a thing. Let's put it this way: Ray Lewis only made the list at No. 100. And Phelps topped them all. Men's Health defined fitness like this: It "isn't just about abs and muscle tone and obscure measurements like V02 Max - but that's all part of it," they wrote.

The last time the Ravens were in the Super Bowl, Michael Phelps was a 15-year-old boy who had just gone to his first Olympics but had yet to win any of the 22 medals that last year made him the most decorated Olympian of all time. Plus, on the day his beloved Ravens were playing in Tampa -- Jan. 28, 2001 -- Phelps was across the Atlantic Ocean. "I was in Paris for a swim meet," Phelps recalled Friday, when he dropped by the Super Bowl media center. "And we tried to set the alarm to wake up in the night, but we slept through it. " Phelps, who retired from swimming after his fourth Olympics in London last year, cleared his calendar to make sure he could attend this year's game.

Pardon the interruption, but if you need a quick break from the non-stop NFL speculation, allow me to pass along an odd story about Michael Phelps, who is having a rough week at the world swimming championships. The 14-time Olympic gold medalist finally won his first gold at the championships in Shanghai early Wednesday morning, beating Japan's Takeshi Matsuda in the 200-meter butterfly, his “ bread-and-butter event .” "I feel like I'm kind of getting back," Phelps told USA Today.

The two were spotted out in London this weekend and Rossee tweeted this picture of the two of them siting quite close. According to E, she's a 25-year-old model from Los Angeles. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan teed off against each other on the golf course at the 12th annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas this weekend. Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and a five-time Most Valuable Player, has spent a lot of time on the golf course since his third -- or was it fourth? -- retirement from the NBA. He shot a 73 in his round against Phelps. But Phelps fired an even-par 72 to beat Jordan by a stroke in their round together, according to Yahoo!

This week the Wall Street Journal's health blog celebrated its five year anniversary. And not with cake. With the Michael Phelps diet. Or, rather, with the memories of it. In a post looking back at its five years in existence, the bloggers recalled some of their biggest hits. Near the top of the list was one about the Baltimore swimmer's famously fattening power meals. "With over 475 comments and counting," the Wall Street Journal writers said, "it's still one of the most trafficked posts 3 ½ years after it was written.
