Also survived by her beloved and dearest friend, JoJo. On April 17, 2005, in Vista, CA, JAMES R. METCALF, 84. Son of the late Violet Metcalf and Regina Metcalf. Survived by wife Mazie Metcalf, sister Regine Holsinger and her husband Robert, nieces and nephews. Born in Baltimore, moved to Hagerstown with father and step-mother Josephine Metcalf. Served South Pacific during WWII. Moved to San Diego in 1951. Burial service in San Diego on April 25. Request donations to Tri-City Hospice, 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92056, who treated Jim with compassion.

William M. Metcalf, security officer at Harbor Hospital Center, died Sunday at the hospital of complications due to cancer. He was 64 and lived on Rockhill Avenue in the Violetville area.Services for Mr. Metcalf were being held today at the Hubbard funeral establishment, 4107 Wilkens Ave.Known as "Pete," Mr. Metcalf was an investigator for the hospital for about five years after seven years as an investigator for the Thoroughbred Racing Protective Bureau.He worked for the federal government for 20 years before that, briefly for the Internal Revenue Service, then as a Treasury agent.

Mary Ann Metcalfe, a registered nurse whose career at St. Agnes Hospital spanned nearly 40 years, died Nov. 19 of complications from a stroke at Joseph Richey Hospice. The Violetville resident was 82. Mary Ann Hearn was born and raised in Asheville, N.C. After graduating from Lee H. Edwards High School, she enlisted in the Army Cadet Nurse Corps. She received her training at the St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing, from which she graduated in 1946. Mrs. Metcalfe began working at the hospital and as a private-duty nurse.

Arnold King Metcalf, an Air Force veteran and former minor league baseball player, died yesterday at FutureCare, a nursing home in Canton. He was 75, and had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Mr. Metcalf pitched for two years in the New York Yankees farm system, said his son, David Metcalf of Millersville. While playing for the Yankees' organization, Mr. Metcalf was drafted into the Air Force in 1951, a year after the start of the Korean War, his son said. He was assigned to translate for a general in France.
