Here's the gist of what legislative auditors discovered when they recently evaluated Baltimore's liquor board: It is doing a lousy job. And here's a short summary of the liquor board's response: Yup. It would be shocking if it weren't so predictable. Does anyone living in this city believe the Baltimore Board of Liquor License Commissioners has ever done an adequate job of overseeing businesses that sell alcohol? Maybe a few former commissioners, but probably not them either. Not that the business of regulating bars and package stores is without controversy elsewhere in the state.

Now that Hillary Clinton is unemployed, here is a synopsis of world situations she was engaged in and responsible for during her tenure as Secretary of State. China: Officials she upset would not even meet with her the last three years. North Korea: Our attempts to talk with them never commenced and they are now threatening to shoot long-range nuclear missiles at us. Egypt: An ally forever is now run by the Muslim Brotherhood to whom we are now selling sophisticated weaponry.

A supermarket across from Eddie's Market in Charles Village ("Eddie's Market rallies Charles Villagers to resist potential competition on Hopkins lot," March 18)? It can't be. Eddie's is a unique Baltimore institution. When I couldn't find grape leaves anywhere else, guess who had a jar? Eddie's. When my husband forgot his wallet and couldn't buy his ice cream, the manager lent him $10! And spring and summer it's a great place to eat one of their deli sandwiches outside at their café tables in front and "people watch.

Your article on the impending across-the-board spending cuts points out the harm to the nation's economy that will result and the inability of Washington interest groups to come together to find a solution ("Budget-cut blame escalates," Feb. 26). Republicans are unwilling to compromise on a sequester that will worsen our economy and throw countless Americans out of work in order to protect tax benefits for millionaires. Their objective is to force deep cuts to government spending, entitlements and programs benefiting working- and middle-class families.

Forecasters are watching another possible mess of a light wintry mix on Friday. As the window for a big snowfall narrows, though, at least one forecaster still sees favorable snow chances in the weeks ahead. Meteorologists are watching two key climate patterns that influence storm tracks, and Friday, they are expected to butt heads, helping to keep the forecast for Maryland tricky. One indicator known as the North Atlantic Oscillation, known for sending monster snowstorms up the East Coast, is helping push some precipitation through the area.

Holy Hannah! What the heck was all that you guys? Axel is dead ( Good night, sweet prince ), the Governor strapped it up and gleefully squeezed off rounds on the prison stronghold, Glenn is having major leadership and relationship issues, and Daryl and Merle cut their Oregon Trail LARPing adventure short to return to cell block C. Also, Merle peed on a tree and he and Daryl spit everywhere. Were they suggesting that Merle and Daryl had huge, fat lippers in, or are they just saying that backwoods people love to spit all the time?
