Oh, America. You brutal, merciless fool. When it comes to "The Voice," you messed up, America. True, you cut someone who reached her peak weeks ago, but you also eliminated the twee princess who wrapped herself so tightly around our hearts. I'm not even going to beat around the bush here -- I'll leave the suspense and ratings-pandering to Carson Daly. Last night, America voted off Amanda Brown and Melanie Martinez. This means two things: One, that like Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine is now wholly out of the competition as well, and two, that America doesn't know a good thing if it beats them over the head with a tambourine, guitar and Cruella De Vil hairstyle.

Well, America, now you've done it. By eliminating Dez Duron last week, you've officially knocked Christina Aguilera out of competition on "The Voice," and I warned you, I WARNED you, that she would become insufferable if she had nothing else to do but sit there. I tried, America. Now, I know this is Christina's own fault, for putting together such a lousy team. But I'm still bitter, because without her own contestants to cheer on, Christina has put her support behind …. Cassadee Pope.

One upside to a reality show running for more than three months is that you get a chance to change your mind. That's certainly the case with "The Voice. " With Monday's performances from the final eight contestants, I think it's safe to say my favorites are sealed, but it was a long road to get there. So let's look at last night's songs, and I'll try to explain my thinking when it comes to these guys. Team Adam Amanda Brown sang Adele's "Someone Like You," or rather, she kicked its butt all over the stage.

Remember all that voting you did this week? I'm not talking about the election; I'm talking about “The Voice.” Well, we got to see the results tonight, and I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in you, America. A results show means a lot of filler, but I'm gonna cut straight to the chase here because I'm angry. The deal was this, America: You got to save two people on each team, while Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton got to save one. Team Adam Saved by America: Amanda Brown and Bryan Keith Saved by Adam: Melanie Martinez Eliminated: Loren Allred, Joselyn Rivera In this case, it's Adam I'm mad at - you're good for now, America.

Tuesday night on NBC's "The Voice," it was a battle between the singer who can dance and the dancer who can sing,  between twee and bombastic, and the time-saving glory of the montage and my poor memory of "who the hell are these people. " TEAM CEE LO Cee Lo Green took to the field first, pairing of dancer/singer/model/whatever Domo against foul-mouthed, bleeping wonder Cody Belew with Lady Gaga and Beyonce's "Telephone. " (All Hail the Queens.) Cee Lo put it best: Cody's a singer who can dance, and Domo's a dancer who can sing, and he wanted to see who had the whole package.

Big news for NBC's "The Voice" -- executive producer Mark Burnett announced that both Usher and Shakira will be taking seats in the spinning chairs in Season 4, replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, as the latter record, tour and generally be awesome. Never fear, however -- this change-up is only for Season 4; Burnett had said previously that with seasons filming in near-rapid succession, he wanted to give his coaches some time to, you know, actually have music careers. Besides, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine will still be coming back, so we still have that delicious bromance to celebrate.

There's something to be said about predictability, which means there's certainly something to be said about the season finale of "The Voice" Tuesday night. Cassadee Pope, the Florida pop-rocker and former front woman of the band Hey Monday, won the title of "the voice," and the accolades that entails -- and no one was surprised. Cassadee has been at the top of the game since voters started having a say in who stays and who goes on the reality show; her songs consistently ranked at the top of the iTunes charts (basically multiplying her votes by a bazillion every week)

Finally, finally, finally, after almost TWO MONTHS, we reach the live shows of "The Voice," and for the first time this season, the power is in the hands of the voting audience. Wait, there's another election going on this week, right? Maybe that's important, too? (Hint: YES. GO VOTE NOW, AMERICA.) But again, this is a safe space, free of politics and devoted solely to “The Voice.” So here's how things work now: Four teams. Five people on each team. After the live playoffs (Monday for Teams Adam and Blake, Wednesday for Teams Christina and Cee Lo)

After the disappointing culling last week, we're down to the final 12, and from here on out, only audience votes will help our favorites move through -- no more coaches' saves. I'm running out of things to say about these musicians, so here's how it works this week: vote for your favorites. If they make the cut, they make the cut. If they don't, they don't, and since this is entirely in your hands, dear audience, it's entirely likely that a coach will NOT have a representative in the final rounds.
