The man directed her to an apartment building on Circle Road.The woman walked to the building and met another man, standing atthe entrance, who took her to a vacant apartment.Police say thefirst man also went to the apartment.

An unidentified man believed to be in his mid-20s was found shot and dying yesterday afternoon on a Meade Village sidewalk, county police reported. The victim was found about 12: 30 p.m. by officers investigating a call reporting a shooting, said Lt. Jeffrey A. Kelly, an Anne Arundel County police spokesman. He was pronounced dead a short time later at North Arundel Hospital. A motive for the killing had not been determined, Kelly said. Police asked that anyone with information about the shooting call homicide detectives at 410-222-3456.

Man charged in daughter's beating A 21-year-old College Creek Terrace man was charged with repeatedly beating his daughter with a belt, Annapolis police said. The man, who was not identified to protect his daughter's identity, had had custody of the girl over the summer and was questioned after returning the girl to her mother's care Tuesday. The Baltimore woman said the girl had extensive bruising on her back and waist. Police said her father had whipped her with the belt to punish her for misbehavior, such as bedwetting.

A 22-year-old Annapolis man was sentenced yesterday to 12 years in prison for shooting a man in the mouth during an argument in Meade Village last year.Eugene A. Washington of the 200 block of Parker Ave. pleaded guilty to assault with intent to murder Gary Bruce, 20, of Glen Burnie.William Mulford, assistant state's attorney, said there had been an argument the evening of March 5 during a sports event at Meade High School. Afterward, Washington drove up to a crowd in the 1700 block of Meade Village Circle.

County police charged a 20-year-old Severn man yesterday with first-degree murder and a handgun violation in the shooting death of a Meade Village man.Charles David Hicks of the 1800 block of Eagle Court, several blocks south of Meade Village, was charged in the death of Carlos Omar Brown, 18, of the 1600 block of Meade Village Circle. Mr. Hicks was being held at the Western District station last night, awaiting an appearance before a court commissioner.Mr. Brown was shot several times as he walked with a friend near his home about 12:45 a.m. yesterday in the Meade Village public housing complex and died at the scene.

County police arrested three Severn youths and a Severn man Tuesday on theft charges after they discovered a bicycle theft ring was operating in their neighborhood.A community security guard told police that he saw four teen-agers on Meade Village Circle just after 4: 30 a.m. with several bicycles. The guard became suspicious because one bicycle was small and obviously made for a toddler.
