On May 20, 2004 BERNICE MCKENNA (nee Zwinklis) age 87, beloved wife of the late Daniel "Mac" Mc Kenna. She was born in Baltimore, MD., and lived in St. Petersburg, FL., for 45 Years. She is survived by siblings Jean Scott, Victor Zwinklis and wife Shirley and Alberta Plant, 2 grandchildren Robert and Charles La Porte, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held in Poway, CA., June 4 at 10 A.M. Arrangements by National Cremation Service.

Terry McKenna scored four goals, including his team's first three, as Holy Cross defeated Navy, 7-5, in men's lacrosse at the inaugural Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic on Sunday at Citi Field in New York. The win was the first over a military academy for the Crusaders and ended their nine-game losing streak to the Midshipmen. The Mids (3-5, 1-2 Patriot League) cut their deficit to 6-5 with 11:51 remaining when Sam Jones (Severna Park) scored his seventh goal of the season. McKenna then sealed the win for Holy Cross (4-3, 1-1)

DOROTHY MCKENNA (nee Horton), 90, of Libertyville, died June 5 at Winchester House, Libertyville. She is survived by her children Anne (Fred) Allegretti of Johnsburg and Philip (Joan) Mc Kenna, Jr. of Annapolis, Maryland; her grandchildren Joseph Allegretti of Lake Villa, Mary (David) Kalasz of Barrington, Philip James Allegretti of Lake Villa, Illinois, Patricia Mc Kenna of Annapolis, Maryland and David (Holly) Mc Kenna of GA and her great-grandchild Mc Kenna Jean Kalasz along with many nieces and nephews.

Christopher McKenna, an aspiring young artist, packs talent into a creative window painting of the school mascot, a ram. The 13-year-old Edgewood Middle School student, originally from Alabama, moved to Edgewood when he was 9. He lives with his mother, Colleen McKenna, and three siblings who also attend Edgewood Middle and Edgewood High. Christopher is considering becoming an artist one day. He plans to paint a larger ram image on the front window of Edgewood Middle School for all visitors to see as they enter.

Royal V. McKenna, a former gift shop owner and an Easton resident, died of pneumonia June 4 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 76. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. McKenna served in the Navy during World War II. He worked in sales before opening a gift shop in Savannah, Ga., in the early 1970s. He closed the business in 1978 and moved to Easton. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. McKenna was a communicant of SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Easton, where a memorial Mass was offered Friday.

Philip J. McKenna, founder of the Employee Assistance Professionals of America and former president of the National Council on Alcoholism, died Friday of heart failure at his home in Bethany Beach, Del. He was 71. A recovering alcoholic with 33 years of sobriety, Mr. McKenna brought sensitivity and understanding to those with similar problems. The former longtime Joppatowne resident moved to the resort community after retiring last month from Constellation Energy Inc., a division of Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. where he had been coordinator and head of the employee medical assistance program since 1974.

Mayor Sheila Dixon has raised nearly twice as much in campaign contributions as City Councilman Keiffer J. Mitchell since Jan. 11 and has nearly four times as much cash left heading into the September Democratic primary for mayor, according to preliminary figures released yesterday. Dixon's campaign has raised at least $1.2 million between Jan. 11 and Aug. 7, compared with $651,000 raised by the Mitchell campaign. Dixon's campaign has $723,000 cash on hand, while Mitchell's has $200,000.

Mayoral candidate and Councilman Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr. called yesterday for weekly debates with his competitors, a challenge that seems unlikely to become a reality. The campaign manager for Mayor Sheila Dixon, Martha McKenna, said the candidates have participated in three forums and have several more scheduled.
