NFL Redskins at Bears 8 p.m. [NFL Network, Ch. 20] If you have the NFL Network or Channel 20 at home, get comfortable. If you don't, find someone who does or get to a sports bar. There are two story lines. The more ordinary one is about two 5-7 teams with dimming playoff hopes trying to keep the embers from going out entirely. More compelling is the Redskins' attempting to recover from the loss of teammate Sean Taylor. Awards College Football Awards Show 7:30 p.m. [ESPN] I'm not sure whether Billy Crystal is emceeing, but even if it's someone like Kenny Mayne, this is definitely worth watching.

Baltimore Sun reporters Jeff Barker and Don Markus and editor Matt Bracken weigh in on the three biggest topics of the past week in Maryland sports. Does Stefon Diggs have a legitimate chance to win either the Maxwell Award or the Paul Hornung Award? Don Markus: On first glance, you would think that the Maryland receiver and kick returner would be a long shot for any national award, given the fact that the Terps are considered by most to be - at best - a middle-of-the-pack team in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Atlantic Division.

It's time for your friendly neighborhood media watcher to do a little pre-holiday spleen venting:There's an apparent sentiment, off last week's unfortunate incident at the Army-Navy football game, that a CBS cameraman is somehow to blame for a group of Army cadets taking a fall after leaning on a not-so-secure railing at Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium. With all appropriate worry for the serious injury that occurred, where is it written that a cameraman's presence requires otherwise intelligent people to take leave of their senses and shamelessly mug?
