She is also survived by her mother, Rita Greene, five sisters, five brothers and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends may visit the family owned MARCH FUNERAL HOME, WEST, INC., 4300 Wabash Avenue, on Satureday after 9 a.m. where family will receive friends on Sunday at 1 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:30.

Matthew J. Smith Sr., a retired real estate appraiser who had been a newspaper reporter, died Wednesday of lung cancer at a daughter's Fallston home. He was 77. Mr. Smith, the son of a U.S. Treasury Department employee and a homemaker, was born in Baltimore and raised in Anneslie. He was a graduate of Towson Catholic High School and attended the University of Baltimore and the University of Maryland, College Park. During the Korean War, he was drafted into the Army and was a graduate of the Army Dental Technician School at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

Smith Jr.; loving brother of Nelson Smith and the late George Smith and Katherine Schmidt; dearest grandfather of Greg and Kevin Brown and Matthew Smith. The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Avenue SW (at Crain Hwy), Glen Burnie from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Friday. The Funeral Ceremony will be at 10 A.M. on Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church.

On January 22, 2004, MARY LOUISE (BURNETT) SMITH, age 88, passed away quietly at the Charlestown Retirement Community, Catonsville, MD, where she had resided since 1987. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard Jay Smith; beloved mother of two sons, H. Lee Smith and his wife Joyce, of Flemington, NJ, James Smith and his wife Ann, of Jacksonville, FL, and a daughter, Mary Ellen Parks and her husband Joshua, of Bluffton, SC. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Hollie Einolf, Melinda Granlund, Craig Rice, Matthew Smith, and Donald Rice; and one great grandson, Zachary Einolf.

THIS HAS been a productive and fulfilling summer for the young men in Boy Scout Troop 550, according to Assistant Scoutmaster John McCarty. While camping at the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation in Pennsylvania, many Scouts earned badges and some advanced in rank. All of the Scouts and adult leaders experienced the beauty and challenges of the outdoors during a weeklong trip. McCarty said that he and Assistant District Commissioner George Kline, who accompanied the troop, also had a surprise reunion.
