Brenda Frese wasn't about to let No. 10 Maryland relive its indignation of three years ago against Towson. That's when her nationally ranked Terrapins came to the Towson Center for an early season tuneup only to watch the Tigers pull off perhaps the biggest upset in school history. Alyssa Thomas had a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds in just 23 minutes, as Maryland held host Towson without a basket for spans of more than 8 minutes in the first half and 6 minutes in the second, building an insurmountable early lead on its way to an 88-43 win. The 11th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will be without starting guard Laurin Mincy for the rest of the season after the junior tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee during Wednesday night's 90-71 victory over No. 21 Nebraska in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Lincoln. After scoring a season-high 16points and going 4-for-4 from 3-point range, Mincy landed awkwardly and left with about 15 minutes to play. She did not return, though she was able to walk as well as pedal on an exercise bike during the game.

Tianna Hawkins led No. 5 Maryland (2-0) with 33 points, 26 of which came in the first half.
