Mark Hall's resume makes it safe to say that he's a bona fide rock star. He's the lead singer of Casting Crowns, one of the most popular and successful Christian rock bands working today. The Grammy-nominated group, which will headline Baltimore Arena on Saturday, has been Billboard's top-selling act in Christian music since 2007, selling more than 8 million records worldwide. But Hall's rock star title takes a backseat to his other job. Hall, 44, is a student pastor in Atlanta, and he has refused to choose between the two since the release of the band's first album in 2003.

For the third time since making defenseman Brendan Witt their No. 1 draft choice in 1993, the Washington Capitals find themselves unable to reach a deal that would get the 19-year-old suited up for the regular season.Yesterday, Witt's agent, Mark Hall, turned down a four-year contract offer of $3.3 million plus performance bonuses. The Capitals say Witt's salary, which would average $900,000 when a $720,000 signing bonus was pro-rated over the four years of the deal, would be one of the 10 highest contracts, in terms of salary per year, ever offered to a rookie.

Funny, but they don't look maniacal. That's what they are, though, and proud of it. After 20 years of marriage and more than two decades as artistic collaborators, cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han have become classical music's power couple. Besides their onstage life - they kick off the classical portion of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center's fifth anniversary season tomorrow night - Finc- kel and Wu Han serve as artistic directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York and the much-admired Music@Menlo chamber music festival they founded in California's Silicon Valley.

If you can easily find a door to the pool at North Carroll High School, don't try to sneak in for a dip. You'll crash into a cinder block wall. It's a mural.Legend has it that a pool was part of the original building but is no longer used. Seniors tell that to freshman, and challenge them to find it.There might be a pool in the building or there might not be, but it is not as easily found as Stacey Krumrine's legacy to the school -- a door painted on a wall in the hallway next to the weight room.
