It took former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard a little over a week to find a new home. Pollard has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, putting him back in the AFC South, his agent, Tory Dandy confirmed on Twitter this morning. Pollard, 28, played two seasons with the Houston Texans before signing with the Ravens. In a somewhat surprising move, the Ravens released Pollard on March 13 despite the fact that he was their leading tackler this past season.

My compliments to the organizers of the recent Baltimore St. Patrick's Day Parade ("Thousands line Baltimore Streets for St. Patrick," March 11). It was a great parade, but it was missing one key ingredient: the Ravens marching band - Baltimore's Marching Ravens - was nowhere to be seen! The band and its well-known predecessor, the Colts' Marching Band, has been a staple in this St. Patrick's Day parade for many years. Yet on a beautiful, sunny day, in the year when the Ravens actually won the Super Bowl and the band would have been resoundingly cheered, they were missing.

For the second time in three years, no Maryland school was among the 68 selected for the NCAA men's basketball tournament. But coaches and observers say that fact combined with a relative down period for the University of Maryland have obscured an overall upswing in the state's college basketball scene. Highlights from 2012-2013 included: Loyola winning 20 games for the second straight season, Towson staging a historic turnaround from 1-31 to 18-13 and tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association and Mount St. Mary's going to the final of the Northeast Conference tournament under a first-year coach.

March 21, 2006: Their 30th basketball victory, a team record, sends the Maryland women to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. Sophomore center Crystal Langhorne scores 30 points as the third-ranked Terps stop St. John's, 81-74, in State College, Pa., en route to their first national championship. March 22, 1980: Rutgers upsets second-ranked Maryland, 9-8 in men's lacrosse. It's the Terps ' first regular-season loss since 1975 to any school other than Johns Hopkins.

The Baltimore Bohemian isn't your usual sports club. The team splits a case of beer at practice, it wins national championships and it plays sports you've probably never heard of. The Baltimore Gaelic Athletic Association, or BGAA, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The Bohemian, as the organization is commonly called, is separated into four teams that play traditional Irish sports such as men's and women's Gaelic football, camogie and hurling. But while that sounds like a league for displaced Irishmen - and it is to an extent - the Baltimore team is predominantly made up of people trying the games for the first time.

Legg Mason Inc.'s stock, which has struggled to recover from the financial crisis, hit a new 52-week high last week. It could be a harbinger of a turnaround at the Baltimore-based money manager. Or Legg shares simply may be riding the recent record-setting rally in the stock market. Legg's stock closed Thursday at a yearly high of $32.13 per share — territory the stock hasn't traded in since July 2011. The stock retreated slightly Friday, closing down 18 cents at $31.95, but even so, its shares are up 24 percent this year.

No. 9 Johns Hopkins has enjoyed a 5-1 start in which the team has outscored its opponents by an average of 8.0 goals in the wins; the only hiccup was an 11-8 loss to Princeton on March 1. Saturday's road contest against No. 10 Syracuse (3-1) will be a measuring stick of the Blue Jays' development since that setback to the Tigers, coach Dave Pietramala said. “I would say that this is an opportunity to see how we've grown since we've kind of started this,” he said Wednesday.
