A New Jersey man was robbed in the parking lot of a Jessup motel early Friday morning, Howard County police said.Steven Collins, 28, of Newfield, N.J., was robbed at knifepoint of $200 as he left the Susse Chalet in the 7300 block of Crestmount Road at 5: 30 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman. Collins was not injured.The robber, who ran toward U.S. 1, was described as a 25- to 30-year-old black man, 6-feet-1-inch tall, wearing a hooded blue sweat shirt and dark pants.

A New York man was robbed at a pay phone in Harmans yesterday by a man with a gem-studded bandanna, county police said.Daniel Bruce Mooney of Governors Island told police he was making a call near Old Telegraph and Dorsey roads at 1:10 a.m. when a man dressed in black and wearing a black bandanna decorated with gems walked up to him and asked his name.Mr. Mooney said he ignored the man and finished the call but that when he turned around, the man stuck something into his ribs and asked what he had in his pocket.

A 49-year-old Severn man was robbed late Tuesday as he stopped to retrieve aluminum cans from a garbage can while he was riding his bicycle near Severn-Danza Park, county police said yesterday.Police said Tom C. Baker of the 8200 block of Deerfield Circle had bent down to pick up a can about 11:30 p.m. when a man walked up behind him, grabbed him by the chest and held a sharp, cold object to his throat while another person went through his pockets and took a $10 bill, a $5 gold-colored watch and a $79 portable radio.

A Brooklyn Park man was robbed at an automated teller machine in a bank lobby Saturday night by a man he allowed into the lobby after the suspect knocked on the locked door, county police said yesterday.John Joseph Rezai, 25, of the 100 block of Wallace Ave. told police that he gave the robber $385 and his ATM card.Mr. Rezai was using the machine at the First National Bank branch in the 5700 block of Ritchie Highway about 10:30 p.m. when the man knocked on the locked lobby door, police said.

A 49-year-old Pikesville man was robbed at knifepoint Sunday afternoon in the 600 block of Bay Green Drive in Arnold by a man he picked up in Baltimore, county police said yesterday.Christian Wohlgemuth, of the 8200 block of Scotts Level Road, told investigating officers that he picked up the man around noon on Remington Avenue and took him to a bar on Greenmount Avenue where they had several drinks.Later, Mr. Wohlgemuth told police, he drove the man to Whitelock Avenue to buy a $10 bag of heroin and back to his apartment in the 200 block of Lorraine Ave., where he injected the drugs.

A 20-year-old Severn man was robbed in the parking lot of an Odenton fast-food restaurant Friday night, county police said yesterday.Brian Keith Henderson told officers he was in the parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road at 6:45 p.m. when a man tried to sell him a piece of stereo equipment.When Mr. Henderson took money out of his wallet, the man put a weapon to Mr. Henderson's back, grabbed the money and ran, the police report said.

A 30-year-old Shady Side man was robbed of his 1971 Mercury on Sunday by a man who said his car had broken down and asked for a ride, then claimed he had a gun and demanded the car, county police said yesterday.David Alfred Patton of the 5400 block of Shady Side Road was getting gas at the Paceway store in the 5500 block of Muddycreek Road at 8:30 p.m. when the man approached him and asked for a ride.Mr. Patton agreed. But during the ride, the man told him he had a gun and demanded the car. After Mr. Patton stopped the car and got out, the man drove off.Store manager robbed while making depositThe manager of an Annapolis convenience store was robbed of his bank deposit bags early Thursday morning, county police reported.

Man robbed at knifepoint in homeA 23-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint Wednesday morning by a man who broke into his basement apartment and threatened to kill him if he told anyone about the crime, police reported.According to police, the burglar forced his way into the apartment in the 7800 block of Mayford Avenue about 10 a.m. and woke the resident, who walked into the kitchen and found the burglar with a knife.The burglar told the man to sit down and asked if he had any money. When the resident said "no," the burglar asked about the upstairs apartment.

A Glen Burnie man was robbed and beaten early yesterday by three menwho asked him the time, county police reported.Detectives said the 32-year-old man had dropped off a hitchhiker about 2:30 a.m. on Whitacker Road in Freetown Village when three men stopped him and askedthe time.When the man told them the time, one of the three grabbed his watch and ran toward Levi Court. The victim followed the trio to Levi Court and asked for his watch back. One of the men gave the watch back,but the three then beat him, police said.

A 25-year-old Baltimore man was robbed at gunpoint Saturday outside an apartment building in Maryland City, county police said.Policesaid at about 12:10 a.m., the victim was walking to an apartment in the 3500 block of Laurel-Fort Meade Road when a gunman walked up to him and demanded his wallet.The man gave him his wallet, and the gunman and three othermen ran toward the road, police said.Police described the gunman as a black male in his late teens, about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He had shorthair and was wearing a dark-colored shirt and pants and a red baseball cap.Police gave no description of the other three men.WOMAN, 18, RAPED IN SHOPPING CENTERAn 18-year-old woman told police she was raped at 10 p.m. Saturday in the back of a car that was parked atthe Chesapeake Square Shopping Center in Glen Burnie, county police said.
