Howard County police planned to charge a 37-year-old Washington woman accused of tying up and beating a 79-year-old man in his North Laurel apartment yesterday afternoon and robbing him of $150.Police said the victim, who lives in the 9700 block of Country Meadows Lane, knew his attacker. Police said the woman entered the man's apartment, demanding cash. When the man refused to give her money, police said, she tied him up with neckties and beat him.Police did not release the name of the suspect or the victim.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who robbed a Bel Air area gas station and convenience store at gunpoint Friday morning. A robbery in Creswell Friday afternoon that led to a brief chase and a serious crash on Route 40 in Joppa may be related, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. The search for this morning's robber also led to a brief lockdown at a nearby high school and also kept the Sheriff's Office busy all day fending off rumors there had been a shooting at the school, a sheriff's spokesperson said.

A 60-year-old man was slashed, possibly with a machete, and robbed yesterday outside a Wachovia bank in Crofton, Anne Arundel County police said. The man was walking from his vehicle to the bank in the Crofton Centre plaza on Route 3 about 9:30 a.m. when two men approached him, cut him on the legs and lower back and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from him. A man was left shoeless after a gun-toting robber forced him to hand over his Nike Air Max sneakers in the parking lot of an Anne Arundel County mall, police said. Officers headed to Marley Station Mall on Ritchie Highway just before 10 p.m. Friday and found a man who said a teenager brandished a gun and demanded his shoes, police said. He handed them over and the gunman fled, police said. The 16-year-old suspect was tracked down nearby, with the shoes near him, and was identified by the victim, according to police.

A Pasadena man who tried to do a good deed and give a man a lift home Monday night found himself the victim of a strong-arm robbery, county police said.David Ralph White Sr. of the 8400 block of Alvin Road was driving home a man he knew only by a nickname.When he pulled to the side of the street on Hog Neck Road about 11 p.m. to let his passenger out, the man grabbed and twisted Mr. White's arm. A man robbed a Crofton convenience store at gunpoint, Anne Arundel County police said. The masked robber entered the Crofton Village Mart at the intersection of routes 3 and 450 about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The robber fled on foot. Dollar General in Glen Burnie robbed A man robbed a Glen Burnie dollar store by shoving the cashier aside and grabbing money from the register, county police said. The robber entered the Dollar General Store at 7385 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd.

A man robbed the BB&T Bank branch on Baltimore Pike in Bel Air yesterday, authorities said. Bel Air police said the man entered the branch about 1:10 p.m. and presented a note to the teller, demanding cash. No weapon was displayed. Police said the man fled with an undisclosed amount of money. He was described as 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet tall; 25 to 30 years old, with a medium build.

Authorities are seeking a man they suspect is responsible for robbing 10 convenience stores and a gas station at gunpoint across Baltimore City and Baltimore County since mid-May, police officials said. In the city, Baltimore police believe the man is responsible for at least three robberies, all on the city's east side. On May 19, a man robbed a High's store in the 6600 block of Belair Road; on June 19, a Royal Farms store in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway was robbed; and on June 28, a man robbed the Royal Farms Store in the 3300 block of E. Fayette St., city police said.

A man robbed a fast-food restaurant in Eldersburg late Tuesday. The man ordered the manager to open the business' safe, forced him into a walk-in freezer and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said. State troopers from the Westminster barracks said the man, who was described as in his 20s, had a dark-colored pistol when he accosted the manager of Roy Rogers outside the business in the 1400 block of Liberty Road about 10:45 p.m. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call state police at 410-386-3000.

A 23-year-old man was robbed and shot early Sunday while leaving his job in northeast Baltimore, according to Baltimore city police. Police said the incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. in the 3000 block Fleetwood Road, where the victim was approached by two unidentified suspects, who were armed with a handgun. The suspects took the victim's possessions, then shot him in the shoulder and face before fleeing, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital, police said.

A 20-year-old man was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint of $4,500 in cash after responding to a Craigslist advertisement for a vehicle for sale Saturday, according to police. After communicating with the person who posted the advertisement, the man and two of his adult male relatives arrived about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Eutaw Place and Laurens Street in the Bolton Hill neighborhood for an arranged meeting, police said. There, two men with guns robbed the man of the cash and assaulted him and his two relatives, police said.

A man was attacked last week in Towson by two men who assaulted him with a handgun, according to Baltimore County Police reports. The was walking home from work at Hillsway Avenue and Halstead Road, at 11:30 p.m. April 30. He was confronted by two men with handgun, according to the police report. The victim tried to flee but was assaulted by a suspect with the gun. According to the report, the assailants stole a bag containing a hat, two pairs of eyeglasses, a pocket knife and cell phone.

Police in Anne Arundel County are seeking help finding a man who robbed a PNC Bank branch on Fort Meade Road in Laurel. Police said he walked into the bank about 5:30 p.m. on May 3 and handed a teller a note demanding money and threatening to unleash a chemical weapon. The suspect is described a s white male about 40 years old and standing 5 feet 5 inches tall. He weighs about 150 pounds and was wearing a dark-colored shirt, shorts, dark sunglasses and a red baseball cap. The bank is in the 3300 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road, in Laurel.

An armed man robbed an unspecified amount of cash from the Holiday Inn, in the 7900 block of Washington Boulevard, early Monday, police said.A night clerk told police that a gunman entered the hotel with a small handgun at 1:30 a.m. and demanded money.The clerk handed over the cash. The suspect then ordered the clerk to disconnect the receiver on a nearby telephone and give it to him, before he fled.The robber was described as a black male in his early 20s, 6 feet tall with a thin build. No one was hurt, police said.

A former Glen Burnie man who went on an interstate bank-robbing spree last year was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison by a U.S. District Court on Monday. Allen Densmore, 56, robbed the Severn Savings Bank on Crain Highway in Glen Burnie of $2,300 on Feb. 3, 2011, after providing the teller a demand note and a bag, federal prosecutors said. After fleeing Maryland in a stolen vehicle, Densmore went on to rob banks in Wisconsin, South Dakota and Iowa, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Baltimore County police are asking the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a Catonsville liquor store Feb. 1. Police said the man entered The Store, which sells wine, beer and liquor in the Paradise section of Catonsville at 6500 Frederick Road, in the early evening. An employee told county police, who responded at about 7:20 p.m., that a man had pointed a handgun at him and demanded money from the register. The man then reached into the register and took cash from the drawer.
