Maryland State Police say they have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man in connection with armed robberies last month at gas station convenience stores in Abingdon and Riverside. Lucas Larsen, whose address was not immediately available, was arrested Monday morning and charged with assault - first degree, assault - second degree, reckless endangerment, armed robbery and theft less than $1,000, State Police said in a news release. Larsen was arrested Monday morning in Sykesville, Sgt. Jeffrey Kloiber, head of the criminal investigation section at the Bel Air Barrack, said Monday evening.

A jury acquitted one man and prosecutors dropped charges against another in the 2010 murder of a 73-year-old Hampden cab driver who was beaten to death with a tire iron, the State's Attorney's Office confirmed. Mark Cheshire, a spokesman for city prosecutors, confirmed that a jury had acquitted Gary Latham, 29, on all charges, and based on that prosecutors dropped charges against a second man, Bobby Wisner, 31.  Additional information was not immediately available Tuesday evening.  When police charged Wisner, they wrote in charging documents that 73-year-old John Sandy had identified his attacker as "Bobby,"  who he said was the brother of a man who lived with him. He slipped into a coma, but eventually woke up and identified Wisner from a photo lineup.

Annapolis police have charged a 28-year-old city resident with assault in connection with a stabbing Thursday night. Police said Lionel McDaniel stabbed a 30-year-old man in the neck. McDaniel is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $400,000 bond. The incident occurred at 10:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Tyler Ave., near Forest Drive. The unidentified victim is being treated at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and is expected to survive, police said. McDaniel faces first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment charges.

Two brothers got into a fight Wednesday in Edgewood and one ended up at the hospital after being stabbed. Scott Cameron Little was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after being stabbed in the abdomen and cut on his arms, allegedly by his brother, Gregory Duncan Little. Scott Little told police he was fighting with his girlfriend earlier in the evening at a house in the first block of Railroad Avenue in Edgewood and left to avoid further confrontation, according to a Harford County Sheriff's Office police report.

Baltimore Police have charged an 18-year-old Abingdon man with fatally shooting a woman in Cherry Hill last week, according to court records.  The records show that Queren L. Thomas, a 36-year-old whose last known address was in South Laurel, was found shot in the 200 block of Reedbird Ave. at about 7 p.m. on Sept. 27. Thomas had called 911 prior to her death and told police "that the person who was responsible for shooting her was a person that she picked up at 908 Coppin Court.

Anne Arundel County police have charged a 51-year-old Glen Burnie man with manufacturing explosive devices and possession of marijuana. Delmus Marshal Rice Jr. was arrested Thursday at his home in the 100 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Officers were executing a narcotics warrant at the home shortly before noon, when they found explosive making materials, two pipe bombs and three black powder pistols. The county fire department and the Annapolis city bomb squad recovered the explosives.

A former crime victim advocate in the Anne Arundel County prosecutors' office for more than a decade has been charged with lying to police. Daniel F. Weikert III, 39, a former victim-witness specialist in the State's Attorney's Office, was charged with lying to police about a Labor Day car accident, according to court documents. Much of the job involves working alongside prosecutors with crime victims and the witnesses, who may be called on to testify if a case goes to trial.

A 21-year-old Bel Air man faces a slew of traffic charges after he allegedly hit another car and fled the scene while driving under the influence of alcohol early Friday morning. Charles Andrew Greer, 21, of the 2000 block of Greylock Court, was charged Friday with driving under the influence, driving while impaired by alcohol, negligent and reckless driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, failure to provide insurance information, failure to provide insurance evidence after a crash involving bodily injury, failure to immediately stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failure to return and remain at the scene of an accident, failure of a person involved in a crash to give assistance to the injured person, failure of a driver to furnish the required license and ID and failure of a driver in an accident to report it to the nearest police.

Anne Arundel County police are investigating several armed robberies that occurred over the weekend in Brooklyn Park, Galesville, Glen Burnie and Annapolis. In several cases, they have descriptions of the suspects, but have been unable to locate them. Officers on patrol in Gambrills did arrest a 29-year-old Arnold man in connection with a series of thefts from autos. Officers stopped a vehicle, known to be involved in the thefts, at about 3 a.m. Friday on Reidel Road, near Route 3. The driver Brandon Michael Smith of the 1100 block Wright Avenue gave officers the consent to search the vehicle.

A Baltimore man has been charged with murder in the slaying of a security guard last weekend at Tee Bee's Bar in Parkville, Baltimore County police said. Police said Saturday they arrested Haywood Trice, 25, of the 1500 block of N. Wolfe St., and charged him with first-degree murder and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. Trice is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. County police said they responded to reports of a fight at the bar, in the 7100 block of Darlington Drive, at 1:30 a.m. Sept.
