A Severna Park man was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged in the attempted theft of a $100 portable radio from the Montgomery Ward store in Glen Burnie, county police said yesterday.Leeza Grim, 27, a special police officer employed by the store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, saw a man take the radio shortly before 6 p.m. and try to leave without paying for it. She stopped him at the door and arrested him. A Northern District officer arrived soon thereafter and took the suspect into custody, police said.

County police arrested a Laurel man Friday evening and charged him with solicitation for prostitution during a sting operation near Whiskey Bottom Road.A female undercover vice squad detective was standing at the corner of Route 198 and Whiskey Bottom Road when a man drove up about 7 p.m. and offered the detective money for a sex act, police said.James Owen Snider Sr., 44, of the 300 block of Compton Ave. was arrested and charged, police said.

A 22-year-old East Baltimore man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of an O'Donnell Heights man outside his home, police said.Police said Jenod Woodley, 22, of the 6200 block of Plantview Way, was shot by one of two men who summoned him outside about 11: 45 p.m. Monday.Nathaniel Santiago of the 3300 block of McElderry St. was arrested Tuesday, police said.Pub Date: 3/13/97

Police arrested a Severn man Monday evening and charged him with robbery, assault and battery and theft.Samuel Suriyan Noipoom, 26, told police a man punched him in the face shortly before 7 p.m. as he stood in the 1800 block of Oriole Court in Spring Meadows. The man took Mr. Noipoom's pager and $40, police said.Mr. Noipoom knew the man and gave police his address. Officer Thomas Middleton went to the man's address and was told he had driven away, police said.Officer Middleton spotted the car nearby and arrested Troy Anthony Jenkins, 20, of the 1800 block of Robin Court, police said.

A Glyndon man turned himself in to Baltimore County police yesterday and was charged with beating a friend to death during a brawl outside a Reisterstown Road bar late Thursday night.James K. Malone, 29, arrived at the Garrison police station just after 4 p.m. He was being held on murder and assault charges.Police said they believed Mr. Malone, of the first block of Butler Road, was responsible for the beating of 41-year-old Ronald N. Cardwell outside the 15-Mile House Bar.

A 28-year-old northwest Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with the Dec. 30 robbery of a Lansdowne sporting goods store in which more than a dozen handguns were stolen.John F. LeGrand, of the 5600 block of Cadillac Ave., was arrested about 9 p.m. yesterday by Baltimore County police at a beverage bottling company, where he is employed as a forklift operator.According to Sgt. Stephen Doarnberger, LeGrand became the target of the investigation following a telephone tip to Metro Crime Stoppers, a private group that offers rewards for arrests in major crimes.

A Ferndale man charged with sexually assaulting, beating and robbing a 76-year-old woman twice in three weeks, was paroled last year after serving five years in prison for convictions on similar charges, court records show.A District Court judge ordered William Anthony Burgess, 34, of the 100 block of Linden Avenue, held without bond yesterday during a bail review hearing in the most recent case.Police arrested Mr. Burgess on Saturday after he returned to the 76-year-old woman's Ferndale home at 2:15 a.m. for the third time and tried to pry a window open with a pitchfork.

A Mount Airy man charged with bilking an elderly Carroll County man of his life's savings when the victim was in a "diminished mental capacity" was released Friday on a $35,000 unsecured bond.State police said the suspect, 48, was able to deplete the man's more than $180,000 in savings and stocks by fraudulently obtaining power of attorney while the victim was a patient in January after heart surgery at General Hospital in Carlisle, Pa.Investigators said a man employed by Tri-Home Health Care Co. was caring for the heart surgery patient starting in November.

A Carroll District judge set bond yesterday for a 61-year-old Finksburg man charged with shooting his son during a domestic dispute Friday.Normand H. Hodges of the 1800 block of Tank Road remained in the Carroll County Detention Center last night on $20,000 bond.He had been held without bond since his arrest Friday afternoon.State police said Darryl N. Hodges, 32, of Baltimore allegedly became involved in an argument with his father shortly before noon.The younger man had gone to his father's home to pick up belongings he had left when he moved recently.

A Baltimore man was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing $39.90 worth of goods from a Royal Farm store in the 300 block of South Camp Meade Road, county police said yesterday.According to police, a man was seen concealing merchandise in a bag that he brought in the store with him. Officers approached the man in the store, where he told them he was taking candy for his children.Officers said the same man was cited earlier that day for not paying the fare on the light rail line and that he was arrested June 5 on a charge of shoplifting at the Caldor store in the Cromwell Fields shopping center.
