Bail was revoked and additional charges were filed against a 35-year-old Westminster man who was accused last month of assaulting the mother of his infant son.State police in Westminster arrested Kenneth E. Kern Thursday night on charges of telephone misuse and violating a protective order the woman obtained to prevent him from contacting her after the alleged assault Sept. 10.Bail on the new charges was set at $100,000 in District Court Friday morning. Prosecutors said Kern was served with a bench warrant signed by visiting Circuit Judge Elsbeth L. Bothe on Friday that revoked the $75,000 bail he posted Sept.

A Severna Park man was arrested and charged with robbing a French restaurant on Benfield Road Tuesday.Sean Patrick O'Brien, 19, of the first block of Brenda Court also was charged with drug possession and assault.An employee at Moulin de Paris, in the 500 block of Benfield Road, told police a man in his late teens with sideburns walked in just after 6 p.m. asking for change. When the cashier opened the register, the man pushed her, reached into the drawer and took an undisclosed amount, police said.

County police arrested a Ridgely man yesterday on charges of breaking into a Brooklyn Park home and trying to rape the woman who lives there.Zenno Smith, 32, of the 12000 block of School St. was charged with assault with intent to rape, first-degree burglary, and assault and battery. He was arrested at 6: 30 a.m. at his parents' home.The victim, a 48-year-old woman, told police she was awakened in the early morning hours of May 31 by a man who had his face covered.The man put his hand over the woman's mouth, held a knife to her throat and told her not to scream, police said.

Police have arrested a man charged in warrants with killing a man and attempting to kill the man's female companion during a burglary Saturday at the victims' Southwest Baltimore home. Alford Bonaparte, 30, of the 3000 block of Elizabeth Ave. in Lakeland was arrested at home Wednesday, Lt. Ben Lieu of the homicide squad said. Bonaparte is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, theft and burglary and is being held without bail, Lieu said. Ronald J. Alexander, 52, was fatally shot at his home in the 2200 block of Ramsay St. and Jennifer Dalton, 23, was shot in the face, Lieu said.

County police arrested a Crownsville man Tuesday on charges of stealing a $139 pair of Nike Air Max shoes from the Sports Authority store in Glen Burnie.A security officer at the store in the 500 block of E. Ordnance Road saw the man walk into the store shortly before noon and head for the shoe section, police said.The security guard saw the man take the shoes from the display, remove the electronic anti-theft tag, put the shoes under his jacket and walk out of the store, police said.The guard chased the man through the parking lot but lost him and called police, who broadcast a description.

A Howard County circuit judge has postponed until Feb. 15 the trial of a Columbia man charged in the death of his estranged wife and critically injuring his stepdaughter.Police charged Tuse S. Liu, 49, with fatally shooting So Shan Chan, 52, and injuring Wing Sau Wu, 26, as the women were leaving the Ellicott City Circuit courthouse March 11. Liu has been evaluated at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center since the shootings.His attorney, Louis P. Willemin, asked for the postponement, saying hospital officials had not completed the evaluation.

A 31-year-old Prince George's County man charged with sexually assaulting a North Laurel woman was released Wednesday from the Howard County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.Marvin Otis Lockwood of the 5800 block of Marlboro Pike in District Heights is charged with third- and fourth-degree sex offenses and breaking and entering.A 39-year-old woman called 911 to report a break-in at her home Tuesday. When police arrived, she told them that a man who was still at her house had broken in and assaulted her after their date Tuesday evening.

County police arrested a Linthicum Heights man Saturday on charges of stabbing his father after an argument in their home.Herbert Maurice Hynson Jr., 28, of the 400 block of Hillview Drive was charged with first-degree assault.His father, Herbert Maurice Hynson of the same address, was in serious but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday.Police said a man called shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday and asked for a paramedic at the Hillview Drive address.Two officers arrived and found a man on the porch who told them his father was inside bleeding badly.
