A Baltimore man was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing $378 worth of clothing from the Glen Burnie Target store.James Benjamin Young Jr., 30, of the 1100 block of Cleveland St. was charged with felony theft, police said.A security guard called police to the store, in the 7900 block of Nolpark Court, shortly before 9 p.m. after he caught a man shoplifting.Police said the guard told them that he saw two women take plastic storage containers out of a cardboard box, fill the box with clothing and reseal it. The women gave the box to a man who went through the checkout line, paid $14.69 for the merchandise and walked out. The guard detained the man outside the store.

Police have charged a second man in the beating death of an employee of an East Baltimore motel Aug. 9. Members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force entered Central Booking and Intake Center on Monday afternoon and placed a detainer on the suspect, Demetrious Williams, 18, who was being held at the lockup on an unrelated charge. Williams, of the 5900 block of Daywalt Ave., and Darryl Cook, 23, who was arrested Sept. 29 in the first block of S. Carey St., are each charged with the fatal beating of Cecil Saunders, 28, who was an employee of Executive Inn Motel in the 3600 block of Pulaski Highway.

A Gettysburg, Pa., man has been charged in the attempted sale of a black bear hide during a Native American Powwow at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship last weekend, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police. Sgt. Ken Turner said that Edward Leroy Myers, 49, violated state laws prohibiting the sale of bear skins. "We're trying to prevent so-called `market hunters,' or people who hunt for a living," Turner said. "State law allows commercial fishing, but not commercial hunting with a few exceptions."

County police arrested a 26-year-old man yesterday on charges of trying to rob a 7-Eleven in Glen Burnie.Steven Barry Johnson, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted robbery and assault and battery.Police said a man walked into the 7-Eleven in the 7700 block of Quarterfield Road shortly after 2 a.m., made several small purchases and waited for customers to leave.When everyone else had left, the man walked behind the counter, put his forearm to the clerk's throat, and said: "Don't say anything.

A District Court judge yesterday denied bail for a 26-year-old Essex man charged with strangling a 16-year-old Harford County girl.Rafel Bonner, whose last known address was in the first block of Maurice Circle, was charged with first-degree murder yesterday in the death of Courtney Danielle Letiro of the 1800 block of Grempler Way in Edgewood. Her body was found Sunday near the Back River sewage treatment plant.Later, Judge Alexandra Williams ordered Mr. Bonner held without bail in the county Detention Center in Towson.

A Union Bridge man was released yesterday on $5,000 unsecured bond after being arrested on charges of beating his girlfriend's 9-year-old son with a leather belt, court records show.The man, 25, was arrested Monday by investigators of the Child Abuse Sexual Assault unit of the state's attorney's office. He is not being named to protect the privacy of the boy.In charging documents, Sgt. Ronald S. Mosco of the state police said the boy was taken home by a county school bus driver about 3: 30 p.m. Friday.
