A man armed with a knife robbed a Jessup convenience store of two cartons of cigarettes Friday and fled in a car, Howard County police said.The clerk, Anna Bobo, 44, of Elkridge, was not injured in the robbery of the Royal Farm Store in the 8200 block of Lark Brown Road, police said.About 1: 20 a.m., the robber entered the store with a scarf covering his face, rushed toward the clerk waving a knife and demanded cartons of cigarettes, police said.After the clerk handed him two cartons of Marlboro Lights, the robber ran out and drove off in a dark-colored, mid-sized car, police said.

An armed robber surprised two employees as they were leaving an Ellicott City Wendy's early yesterday , forced them back inside and stole cash from a safe, Howard County police said.The incident began at 1:14 a.m. when a man with a dark-colored handgun approached the workers and ordered them to return to the fast-food restaurant in the 9200 block of U.S. 40, police said. The gunman forced the manager to open a safe and then took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, police said.

County police arrested a Baltimore man Monday in the robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 4000 block of Ritchie High- way.Police said a man walked into the store about 3:45 a.m. Monday, pushed the clerk to the ground, threatened to kill him with a knife and ordered the clerk to reveal how to open the cash register. When the clerk complied, the man opened it, took an undisclosed amount of money and ran.Police later found a man fitting the robber's description across the street from the store, and the clerk identified the suspect as the robber.

A bandit flashed a pair of nun-chucks, weapons used in karate, at the clerk of a Shell station in the 500 block of Crain Highway Sunday and made off with an undetermined amount of money, county police said yesterday.The man entered the station shortly before midnight and demanded money. A man armed with a 6-inch knife robbed an Arnold motel Sunday morning of an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.The man walked into the Days Inn in the 1500 block of Whitehall Road about 2:50 a.m. and brandished the knife at Andrew Andrezywski, 20, the clerk on duty. The robber ordered Mr. Andrezywski to open the cash drawer and took the money when the clerk complied, police said.The man then ordered Mr. Andrezywski and a witness who was in the office to lie face down on the floor and not to move before he ran off, police said.

A man armed with a loaded .22-caliber Ruger revolver, a Chinese 7.62 mm assault type rifle with bayonet, a pipe bomb, a "hoax" bomb and wearing a homemade law enforcement-type uniform was arrested by state police after an employee of a Gamber bank called police yesterday.Lt. Gregory M. Shipley, state police spokesman, said a man entered the Westminster Bank and Trust branch at Routes 91 and 32 shortly before 3 p.m. and after a short wait, left abruptly when another customer entered the bank.

A man armed with a 4-inch screwdriver robbed a High's store in the 700 block of Church St., Brooklyn Park, of an undetermined amount of cash Friday, county police said yesterday.Police said the man walked into the store about 8:30 a.m. and picked up a can of cat food. When he pulled a dollar from his pocket to pay, he also pulled out the screwdriver from his jacket and demanded money from the cashier.The man took the cash and fled, leaving the cat food. The suspect is described as a white male, about 25, with thin, shoulder-length brown hair, a mole near his mouth, and a thin mustache.

A man who may have been armed with a handgun robbed a Taco Bell in Linthicum Sunday afternoon of an undisclosed amount of cash, county police said yesterday.The man walked into the restaurant in the 5100 block of Raynor Ave. shortly after 1:30 p.m. He pointed his right hand, which was wrapped in a dark shirt, at the cashier and demanded money, police said.The cashier complied, and the man ran out the front door and toward a motel in the back of the restaurant.
