Man is wounded in Severn shooting A man was shot yesterday in Severn, and Anne Arundel County police are asking the public's help in gaining more information about the incident. About 12:10 a.m., officers responded to the 8200 block of Marlton Court for a report of a shooting. I am writing on behalf of the Lansdowne Improvement Association, Inc. regarding a petition submitted by applicants Robert Maith and Seung Chul Yang regarding Renee's Lounge at 3911 Hollins Ferry Road. The abovementioned applicants are requesting a change of liquor license classification from Class B (restaurant) to Class D (tavern - beer, wine and liquor). LIA leadership is adamantly opposed to this change. Throughout Baltimore County, it is generally expected that liquor licensees shall operate their establishments in such a manner as to avoid disturbing the peace, tranquillity, safety, health and quiet of the neighborhood.

Katina McCullom and Sandra Justice are first. It isn't a matter of who they are or what they did. They're first because on a December night, they're working the front desk of the Red Roof Inn in Jessup. And as these things go, someone has to be first. The gunmen -- one tall and thin, the other shorter and solid -- storm in, flash weapons, rip the phone from its socket and flee with $295. The men hide their faces with bandannas and their car around the rear of the Route 1 motel.Kenneth McGlynn is the duty detective when the phone rings.

Sitting side by side along the Jones Falls Expressway, Poly and Western share many things, including athletic fields and parking lots.Basketball tradition, however, has always been an area that Western has kept to itself.Entering last night's City Girls Championship game, the Doves had never lost to their neighbors in 16 years of competition. That's what made No. 14 Poly's 48-40 win before an overflow crowd at No. 17 Western so special to Engineers center Lindsay Willemain."We've lost to them by probably a 60-point margin every time we've played them since I was in the ninth grade," said Willemain.
