MAXINE D. LUTZ, of New Castle, DE, and formerly of Baltimore, MD where she resided for 50 years, age 87, passed away Monday, December 20, 2004 at home, surrounded by her loving family. In her earlier years, Mrs. Lutz was a shoe sales representative with Hess Shoe Store in Baltimore. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Lutz was an avid gardener, but family time was paramount in her life. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen L. Lutz who passed away in 2001.

WARREN, Mich. -- As Robert A. "Bob" Lutz walks briskly from studio to studio at the General Motors Design Center, it's clear he is charged up. "Wait till you see what they're doing in here," he says. "This is where the creativity is, in design." After years of stifling management and a risk-averse culture, the design inmates reportedly are running the asylum under Lutz, GM's 74-year-old vice chairman and global product czar. George "Lee" Lutz, 59, whose brief and awful stay in an Amityville, N.Y., home became the inspiration for one of the most famous haunted house stories ever, died of heart disease Monday in Las Vegas. Mr. Lutz, a former land surveyor, became famous after moving his new bride and three children into a three-story Dutch colonial on Long Island in 1975, about a year after six members of the DeFeo family had been shot and killed in the home. Ronald DeFeo Jr., the eldest son, was convicted of the murders.

An article in The Sun's Carroll edition Wednesday incorrectly reported that police failed to give Roy Nary Lutz Jr. a breath test. Police offered the test, but Mr. Lutz refused to take it.The Sun regrets the error.
