On July 29, 2005, DONALD ELLIOTT LUMPKIN, devoted father of Kim and Jim Connelly, Greg and Tracey Lumpkin, Chris and Stacey Lumpkin, loving grandfather of eight grandchildren, brother of Ila and Al Dukes, Ken and Mary Lumpkin, Joyce Lumpkin and the late William Lumpkin. Also survived by five nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lassahn Funeral Home (Overlea) 7401 Belair Rd, on Wednesday at 10 A.M. Visiting Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Interment Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Alice S. Lumpkin, an environmentalist and animal lover who with her husband owned and managed their Worthington Valley farm, died Saturday of cancer at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson. She was 52. The daughter of Dr. Samuel McComb Lumpkin, an ear, nose and throat specialist, and Barbara Seney Waters Lumpkin, a homemaker, Alice Seney Lumpkin was born in Baltimore and raised in Sparks and on Geist Road in Glyndon. After graduating in 1979 from Garrison Forest School, she earned a bachelor's degree in geology with an environmental option from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, in 1984.

Sarah Beth Sichina and Zachary David Lumpkins were married July 2, at Cokesbury Memorial United Methodist Church in Abingdon, followed by a reception at the Richlin Ballroom. The bride is the daughter of Jane Lynne Spicer, of Belcamp, and the late John Randolph Sichina. The groom is the son of Daniel and Janine Lumpkins, of Belcamp. A graduate of Towson University, the bride is employed by Silvergate Evaluations in Baltimore. The groom graduated from Stevenson University, and is employed as a computer administrator for Computer Sciences Corporation.

Ananias "Lump" Lumpkin, a retired maintenance supervisor whose career at The Sun spanned more than 40 years, died of cancer Tuesday at his Baltimore home. He was 80. Mr. Lumpkin was born in Ino, Va., the son of a farmer. He spent his early years on his father's farm in King and Queen County, Va., before moving to Baltimore in 1939. "He was raised by his uncle and aunt because Baltimore had better educational opportunities at the time," said a son, Harry Nathaniel Lumpkin of Stafford, Va. He was a member of the track team at Douglass High School, where he met his future wife, Hazel Butler.

Dr. William Randolph Lumpkin, a surgeon and former chief of staff at Maryland General Hospital, who was badly wounded trying to treat soldiers in the field during World War II, died of pneumonia Thursday at the Edenwald retirement community health-care center. He was 82.Before his retirement in 1981, Dr. Lumpkin also had been assistant chief of surgery at Maryland General. His career mirrored that of his father, Dr. James Lumpkin, who had been chief of surgery there. The elder Dr. Lumpkin died in 1932, before his son had completed college.

On the heels of the launch of the most ambitious programming effort in the history of Channel 45 (WBFF) -- its 10 o'clock news program -- Bruce Lumpkin has been relieved of his duties as the station's general manager.The action clearly shocked many of the station's employees. Lumpkin, an original employee of WBFF when it went on the air jTC in 1971, has been general manager for the last four years, overseeing the station's construction of a new antenna, its ongoing move into a new building, the news launch and the affiliation with the Fox network.

Irene Theresa Lumpkins, director of field health services for the Baltimore City Health Department who helped develop a regional disaster response plan, died of cancer Oct. 8 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. She was 54. A lifelong Baltimorean, Irene Theresa Smith grew up in Claremont and Armistead Gardens, said her son, Donald Lumpkins of Carney. She graduated in the 1960s from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School and attended Baltimore City Community College in the 1980s.

Jessica Lumpkin crouched carefully in the water, retrieved a small glass tube from her sweat shirt pocket and put it into the stream, capturing a sample of Middle Patuxent River water. She handed it to a fellow student, who tested it for acidity and recorded the results on a chart. Lumpkin, 17, a senior at Oakland Mills High School, was one of 19 students in the high school's advanced placement environmental science class who participated in World Water Monitoring Day on Tuesday, an annual event aimed at promoting awareness of water quality.
