Ocean City was packed over the post-Fourth of July holiday weekend. Among the visitors was teen mom and '16 and Pregnant' reality TV star Kailyn "Kail" Lowry. Lowry posted on Twitter a couple of photos of her hanging with friends on the beach. She later tweeted a picture of her car being towed. (Look for an upcoming blog post on car troubles in Ocean City.) Some gossip sites report that the teen mom has been trying to lose weight and was showing off her new bikini bod in O.C. Lowry also tweeted photos of her and boyfriend, Javi, on a scooter.

RODDY LOWRY, age 58, of Snellville, GA and formerly of Baltimore, went home to be with the Lord August 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lowry; daughter, Judith Scales, Snellville, GA; sons, William Scales and Jack Scales, Lithonia GA, James Scales, Snellville, GA; brothers, Charles Lowry and Al Lowry , Baltimore; and nine grandchildren. A native of Mecklenburg County, NC, Mr. Lowry lived most of his life in Baltimore and was a retired Captain with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, where he worked for 33 years.

Henry Alexander "Hank" Lowry Jr., a retired businessman and World War II veteran, died Thursday at St. Joseph Medical Center of complications from a fall suffered this past winter. The Timonium resident was 83. Mr. Lowry was born in Baltimore and raised in Roland Park. After graduating from McDonogh School in 1944, he served in the Army in Europe. In March 1945, Mr. Lowry participated in the historic crossing of the Remagen Bridge with American forces. His decorations included the Bronze Star.

Lowry, Jr. and Rhett B. Lowry and Amanda Stiles and her husband James. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brannigan and Cooper; his mother Virginia O. Lowry (nee Tarr) and late father Wilbur A. Lowry; one brother Robert Lowry and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Howard County police have released the identities of a man who was fatally shot early Saturday at a motel in Laurel and the officer he shot and injured. The suspect was identified as Aaron Mason Lowry, 31, of Washington, who was wanted on several warrants, including the attempted murder of a Washington police officer the day before and robbery. The officer, Cpl. Cal Bowers, a Prince George's County sheriff's deputy, suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen. He was in serious but stable condition last weekend at Maryland Shock Trauma Center after undergoing surgery Saturday.

THE MARTIN'S WEST ballroom was brimming over with the holiday spirit for the 16th annual Christmas Scholarship Brunch, put on by 100 Black Men of Maryland Inc. The Boys Choir of Powhatan sang Christmas carols, as many of the 700 guests greeted one another with hugs and kisses. Many carried bags of unwrapped toys that were being collected for the needy. To further your own spirit of giving, you could hear about the organization's scholarships and educational programs for African- American youth, just by chatting with the boy escorting you to your table.
