As reported in the Dec. 31, 1938, Evening Sun : "Water service to Ellicott City was restored today after the town had "gone dry" for thirteen hours when its main water line burst. Not a faucet in the town ran from 8:30 o'clock last night until late this morning. "The leak in the main was discovered by William F. Kirkwood, a clerk in the Ellicott City Post Office, who said he was going down Fels Lane, under which the main is buried, when he noticed water bubbling from the middle of the road.

Richard C. Litchfield, a systems analyst who had served in the Marine Corps and the Air Force, died of pneumonia May 30 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. The Bowie resident was 51. Mr. Litchfield was born in Columbia, N.C., and raised in Elizabeth City, N.C. He served in the Marine Corps from 1973 to 1976. He earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983 and a master's in administration in 1992 from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Theresa Marie Wolfe Litchfield, a Cumberland native, died last Saturday when USAir Flight 1016 crashed near Charlotte, N.C. She was 25.She had boarded the DC-9 flight in Columbia, S.C., to attend her grandmother's funeral.She grew up in Ridgeley, W.Va., and was a 1987 graduate of that town's Frankford High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and played tenor saxophone for the school's marching band.She graduated in 1992 from Frostburg State University, where she met John E. Litchfield of Sykesville.

(nee Browning) Abramovitz and the late Nathan Abramovitz, dearest brother of Rita Litchfield and her husband Ed Litchfield Sr. and Myra Abramovitz and her husband Leonard Hickman Jr., dearest uncle of Edward Litchfield Jr. and his wife Wendy Litchfield, and Robert Litchfield and his wife Hye Yeong Kwon Litchfield, loving great uncle of Amberly Summer Litchfield. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 11 A.M. from Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Rt. 32 near Eldersburg.

EDWARD Mc GUE, 70, formerly of Laurel, MD, died June 25, 2006 at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, DE. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Charlie Webb, of Millsboro, DE. His Niece, and Nephew-in-law, Jennifer and Craig Jeffries, Grand- Nieces, Abigail, and Gabrielle Jeffries all of Laurel, His Aunt Virginia Long and cousins. Mr. Mc Gue was a Floral Designer for the Baltimore, Washington area. There will be a memorial graveside service, August 8, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Laurel, MD, with Chaplin Warren Litchfield.
