With the Merriweather Post Pavilion's future as an outdoor concert venue up in the air -the Rouse Co. wants to sell it to Howard County as an enclosed theater - the Incubus show on Monday may be the end of an era for the 37-year-old site. In its time, Merriweather has been the venue for many top touring acts, from Blondie to Madonna, from the Grateful Dead to Phish, from Joni Mitchell to Norah Jones. Surely you sprawled on its lawn under the stars, or sprang for a seat in the pavilion a time or two or 20. Did you bang your head to Metallica?

Just last year, 14-year-old Jamie Bell had never been to America, much less shuttled between New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, hobnobbing with Rosie O'Donnell and Sarah Jessica Parker. What a difference having Oscar buzz about your movie can make. Jamie shines in the new British movie "Billy Elliot," in which he plays an 11-year-old boy from a testosterone-filled English coal-mining town who wants to be a ballet dancer. Critics around the world have raved about his performance, and many have even tossed about "Oscar" in the same sentence as "Billy Elliot."

NBC is promoting its prime-time lineup tonight as "must-see TV" of the highest order -- and in many respects, it's right. Bebe Neuwirth returns as Lilith on a hilarious episode of "Frasier," "L. A. Law" has a couple of tense scenes featuring some talented players, and "Mad About You" presents a virtual-reality show that's virtually perfect. Also tonight, but on CBS: Robert Culp and Bill Cosby reunite in the made-for-TV movie "I Spy Returns."* "Mad About You" (8-8:30 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2)

When the Mediaeval Baebes sing oldies, they really sing oldiesA group of 12 young Englishwomen (who will be performing at Lilith Fair at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Wednesday), the Baebes are perhaps the only pop group in existence performing hits from the 12th century and before. Singing in Latin, medieval English and archaic French -- with occasional accompaniment on recorder, hurdy-gurdy and crumhorn -- Mediaeval Baebes are the perfect band for those who want to party like it's 999.Although the group put enormous effort into finding and learning the material, there's nothing especially scholarly about the Baebes' interest in ancient music.

When David Goodman picks up a book or an almanac, he says facts always stick to him "like Velcro." This gift came in handy during last night's screening of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" when the 24-year- old Olney resident put years of soaking up trivia to good use and walked away with $1 million. He is the sixth to win the big prize since ABC launched the show. "We're all really excited," said Goodman, a consultant for ICF, a Fairfax, Va., firm that handles environmental projects and issues.
