Also survived by three grandchildren. Lila Boyce Emory, a community volunteer who was a former board president of Union Memorial Hospital, died Tuesday of Alzheimer's disease at the Blakehurst Retirement Community. The former North Baltimore resident was 81. Born Lila Halliday Jones in St. Louis, she studied English and history at Vassar College, where a friend from Baltimore introduced her to her future husband, Charles Meredith Boyce, whom she married in 1942. Mr. Boyce, an investment banker, served on Baltimore's City Council and as city treasurer, and was president of Robert Garrett and Sons at his death in 1969.
