There's more to summer cocktails than mojitos or margaritas; sure they get the job done, but they aren't nearly as refreshing as Mr. Rain's sinfully made Eve's Habit. The Funhouse, a culinary wonderland atop the American Visionary Art Museum , loves to serve patrons drinks as innovative and quirky as their artistic digs. I loved Eve's Habit, served as part of a flight of handcrafted cocktails called The Garden Variety. As the title suggests, ingredients are inspired by fresh, seasonal produce: red bell pepper-infused gin, fresh citruses and herbs, organic rum infused with hibiscus, ginger and cardamom.

CNN's Don Lemon is making the rounds on Comedy Central's late night political humor shows and he's building a strong case for the coveted title of "America's Funniest Anchor. "  Earlier this week in a clip dubbed "CNN anchor Don Lemon Appears not to care for CNN," Jon Stewart played a montage of Lemon joking on rather stupid CNN segments, including the cost of Harry Potter's education, an interview with a man dressed as the devil, an egg dropping into water, and superhero references written into his copy.

The authorities are coming down hard on kids' lemonade stands this summer. In Georgia, three girls trying to earn enough for a trip to a water park were told they needed $50 a day in business permits. In Wisconsin, the cops busted a pair of sisters who figured they could make some money selling lemonade to people headed to a nearby car show. (The police eventually backed down.) And right here in Maryland, Montgomery County authorities shut down a stand outside the U.S. Open golf tournament in June.

Strawberry and Lemon visited Baltimore last week, spreading the word about McDonald's Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, due to hit stores later this summer. Anyone who Tweeted pictures of themselves with Strawberry and Lemon will receive a card to redeem for a free Frozen Strawberry Lemonade. Ahhh, I though the photos were cute.

Strawberry margarita Serves 1 This is my version of the margarita. It’s like a margarita got stilettos. 1 oz tequila blanco 1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice Splash of lemon-lime simple syrup (see recipe below) 1 C strawberries and 1 C ice Combine all ingredients together in blender and blend until smooth. This recipe is a little light on the tequila, as I have some tequila horror stories I’m still living down. Feel free to ramp it up if you’re of stronger stock.

Well, if you’re making limoncello, you’ll have a few lemons on your hands. Score. I don’t know about you, but around this time of year, I’m impatient for spring produce and begin craving fresh flavors. Lemon is bright and does just the trick. Fortunately, there are many many recipes to use lemons in. One of my favorites from my childhood is lemon bars. Sweet, tart, with a rich buttery crust, lemon bars are a quintessential spring dessert. The recipe I’m usually use is somewhere in Arizona, so I searched around to find a new one, and found this recipe by David Lebovitz, whose food blog I love.

I hope you all have been enjoying the spring weather we've been having. The first few days of spring always make me crave fresh things to eat and I love how refreshing lemon drinks are. Life has also been giving me a particularly insane amount of lemons lately, so I thought this DIY project was a good solution to both problems. (Wink wink). What is limoncello? It is a traditional Italian digestif. It’s enjoyed after dinner on warm summer nights. It’s a sweet, lemony liqueur, and it’s surprisingly easy to make.

So what makes the people attired in summery hats and pastel colors gather at the base of Mount Vernon's Washington Monument each May? The 93rd annual event, known as the Flowermart, manages to combine people-watching with nostalgia in a spectacular 19th-century architectural setting. Around the edges are pots of geraniums and petunias, children being pushed in strollers and the occasional well-bathed and well-combed dog. It's where Old Baltimore comes out of the attic for a thorough spring airing.

The Empire strikes back - in a good way. In 2000, the giant E&J Gallo Winery lost a trademark infringement suit it brought against Bridlewood. So it turned around and bought its tiny rival. Good move. This chardonnay is far above the norm in this price range. It's finely balanced, with a crisp acidity and a light touch with oak. The flavors are what you'd expect with chardonnay - apple, lemon and nuts - but with an uncommon clarity and energy. 2007 Bridlewood Chardonnay From: Monterey County, Calif.
