The Patriots' annihilation of the Jets on Monday night revealed the elite teams in the NFL: New England, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and New Orleans. The Ravens are close to that list; 10 plays separate the Ravens from a 12-0 record, just as 10 other plays could have made us 5-7. With Todd Heap, Le'Ron McClain and a healthy Michael Oher, we would have beaten Pittsburgh last Sunday. We need to restart, demonstrate that we are among the elite and get to the Superbowl. Ray Lewis, Derrick Mason and Anquan Boldin have been there and can take us there again.

Ravens safety Ed Reed will miss the Pro Bowl. The Miami Dolphins' Yeremiah Bell will be Reed's replacement. Reed, who said he was "50-50" on whether he would return next season, was scheduled to meet with his medical team this offseason to discuss his injuries. Ravens coach John Harbaugh and teammates have said they expect Reed to come back for the 2010 season. That leaves the Ravens with four players in Sunday's Pro Bowl: linebacker Ray Lewis, running back Ray Rice, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and fullback Le'Ron McClain.

With the NFL lockout expected to be lifted -- fingers crossed, everyone -- in the next seven to 10 days, we can start focusing on football-related business and not just what enraged linebackers have been saying. The Ravens have had their post-lockout plans drawn up for weeks, preparing for the moment when the lockout ends and the NFL's free-spending organizations rush to the express checkout line in free agency. Ozzie Newsome did well in checking some items of his shopping list in the draft -- Cornerback?
