Just when it seemed Eric Clapton's year couldn't get any more commercial and the man himself couldn't possibly be any more in demand, the singer-songwriter turns up with yet another triumph. The new "Layla," which Reprise Records has just released as a single, is something to behold. The retooled version of this song is from Mr. Clapton's acoustic "Unplugged" set, holding steady on Billboard's album chart at No. 4 this week.Though this new rendition officially bears the original title -- just plain "Layla" -- it has come to be known as the "New Layla" because it is so strikingly different from its predecessor.

Rescued from a hot U-Haul truck with more than a dozen others in July 2013, 9-year-old pit bull mix Layla was so depressed in her pen that Howard County Animal Shelter workers brought her up front for some human companionship. And Katelin Rowley, contemplating a cat to buddy up with her dog, Hanai, headed to the same shelter and promptly fell for the dog "so pitiful I couldn't leave her. " Sometimes because of age, health issues, personality problems or just plain bad luck, rescued animals simply can't wait for adoption.

The Money In the Bank pay-per-view has become a cornerstone event for the WWE every year. This year is no exception, though for different reasons than usual. With the vacated WWE World Heavyweight title, this feels like a reset of the main-event picture, for better or worse. For close to a year now, the title has been all about The Authority and the wrestlers going against The Authority. While certainly Orton, Kane and Triple H are involved at the moment, this can be used to get the belt away.
